I slapped the living crap out of my wrist yesterday when I was shooting. That's the first time I've ever done it, but I've only been shooting for 3 months. I'm being more careful about hand position, a lot more careful. But have slapped it several times since then. I know it's my hand position, but can't say I've changed anything. I did get new limbs and I'm pulling back about 6lbs more than I was. Would that make the string pop enough more to make that big of a change?

yea what bowjoe said, your wrist has got to be turned in some allowing your arm to be in line with the string, i think we have all done that a time or 2 but it realy dont take many times to make sure your carful on how your hand is sitting on the grip. it will make you want to cry, :stretcher:

John I had the same problem when I had new limbs put on my Alpine Bow back a few years. Brought the bow home and couldn't seem to stop the wrist slap, I thought it was me, but couldn't take it any more so I brought the bow back to the shop. come to find out the cams weren't put back on correctly (bushed out to much on one side) causing cam lean.

The shop reinstalled the cams and never slapped the wrist again .. ;) It doesn't take much to through off what little clearance the is between the wrist and string.

If the bow is back together correctly, the added poundage may be causing extra string travel ( which I'm sure it is ) I would suggest a STS to help buffer that string slap .. Be extra careful of your hand form as well .. :);)

One suggestion....get an arm guard!

That will not fix the problem, it is just a band-aid. You should never hit your wrist, there is a problem somewhere that needs to be fixed. Either form, bow set-up wrong, etc. Need to find out what it is and correct it now. Since you have not been shooting that long it would be easy to correct form if that is the problem. If you get a chance post a picture of you at full draw from the side and lets see if it is correct.

Ditto.... I would take it to the shop and let them take some measurements on it.... make sure everything is lined up.... a buddy of mine has a bowtech that has was just borderline to much draw length for him.... he is gettin some slappage due to some string stretch....

Agreed with that. If the bow is set-up right you should never hit your arm. If you do than you are not holding it right.

I didn't think I would hit my wrist either, but I did. It will happen someday.
