In IL you have to pull 40 pounds to deer hunt. Sounds like a good number to start her on. Get a bow that starts at 40 and goes up to 50 or more. Strut10
My Mrs. draws around 42 lbs. She's only shot 2 deer so far......a doe and a 6 point.....but in both cases the ground on the other side stopped the arrow.
Shaun_300
I'd get her a 40-50lb bow and see where she feels comfortable. If she can pull 60 sometimes, she can definitely pull 40-50 no problem everytime.
hyperflow
good idea, thanks
cinch314
In OK I believe the minimum draw weight is 40lbs. I started out at 45 lbs but Ive moved up to 62 lbs. Just have to build those muscles up.
JimT
Depends on what she can pull. My girlfriend shoots a 30-40# Kobalt. She'll be hunting with it at 40#. If your gf can handle 40# then I would get her a 40-50#.
Kels
Start where she is comfortable, and slowly move up. like others have said, between 30-50#
hyperflow
I dont want to get her a 30-40 because she will grow out of it really fast, But man oh man is a 40-50lbs bow ever hard to find.
Turkeygirl
Maybe you should have her go shoot bows and find out what is comfortable to her... I'm pulling 50 this year now..
Parkergirl
i only draw 40 lb.
Tom2008
My girlfriend started at 28 pounds in February 2008. We got her up to 35 pounds before season and she got a pass through on her first deer. I would say pick her up one of thos Diamond Razor Edge. It goes up to 60 and you can get it down to about 26 pounds.

mandyjo62
Definately get her something that is very adjustable. I'm 16 and can shoot 40-50, she'll develop the muscles if she practices enough. It would be smart to take her in and let her shoot different bows to see what she is comfortable with. The people at whatever shop you choose to go to should be helpful with picking out a bow as well.
