olsplittoe
Vanes only, the biscut is a little tough on the feathers.
okiedog
Shoot Blazers on my 3D arrows, but shoot feathers for hunting. I really love the way feathers fly. I treat my feathers right before season and have never had a issue with rain.

sskybnd
i shot feathers for a long time, never had any problume with them, would spray a little hair spray on them to help shed the water, i shot blazer vanes now, i was told there is more drag using a feather over a plastic vane any truth to that?? Hoytguy
Both have their Pro's and Con's. I shoot both. It's all argument material if you ask me.
Doc
Back in the 60's, I used feathers. At some point I got pretty sick of standing in the rain on stand and looking at my fletching all slicked down against the shaft. I tried dry-fly dope, hair spray and all kinds of other tricks that were available back then with varying degrees of success. I even tried using plastic baggies over the fletching while the arrows were in the quiver. You can imagine the hassle with that arrangement. Then the pro-fletch vanes came out, and I switched. I've been shooting vanes ever since. What I have read over the years is that feathers do a better job of guidance because of the segmented features that do a better job of grabbing the air. Also, feathers are more forgiving of accidental contact with rests, cables, etc. It would appear that archer's first choice was probably the best scientific choice.............all except for that pesky rain problem. Anyway, the vanes take care of that moisture problem, and are a very passable substitute for feathers. So I've had no problem staying with vanes for all these decades.
