I may try hunting from a stand at the edge of that particular clear-cut. I have never hunted elk from a stand before, but the first week or so of the season before the rut starts it just might work. As for the deer, those pictures are from my property less than 50 yards from the house and I do not hunt on the property itself. We do border Forest Service and I just may try and take the buck in the first picture during archery season, when I'm not out chasing elk. He is at least five years old and his rack has really good mass although the tines are on the short side. This year he added a few kickers and has a total of 13 points. A picture from last year.
