wtnhunt
Re: Clinton Impeachment [ QUOTE ] Impeachment at the federal level is basically like a courtroom conviction in the sense that when a person is impeached, that person has been convicted of wrongdoing. The criminal charges are generally stated in the articles of impeachment. [/ QUOTE ] There you have it. According to what that says, if he was impeached he was found guilty. slugshooter
Re: Clinton Impeachment Here's how my government book defined impeachment. " The process by which government actors can be removed from office for treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. The House of Representatives first votes on the charges and then the trial takes place in the Senate."
stevebeilgard
Re: Clinton Impeachment lets not try to change history. fact is, clinton was impeached. on sat., dec 19, 1998, clinton was impeached. the house voted 228 to 206 to approve article 1 (guilty of perjury) and 221-212 to approve article 3, obstruction of justice. check out www.ourtimelines.com. what matters is that clinton disgraced the office (fact), is guilty of a felony (perjury), and is the second president in the history of the counry to be impeached. facts are facts, folks. like it or lump it. as for being a great president, i couldn't agree less. slugshooter
Re: Clinton Impeachment No one has tried to change history, I have merely tried(succesfully) to show that I know more about history and government than you think I do. I liken the whole impeachment process to a grand jury, the House voted to send him to trial and the Senate tried and acquitted him, simple as that. Stop trying to read into things, the fact that he was impeached is undeniable, the fact that he shouldn't have been inpeached is undeniable. There was no bribery, treason, or high crimes involved. He "disgraced" the office, well, what he did was a far cry less than what other more "honorable" men have done in there.
wtnhunt
Re: Clinton Impeachment My oh my, fact this fact that. Who is right who is wrong, who really cares. Some say facts prove Clinton was found guilty, some say facts say they prove he was not found guilty. Bottom line, he was in fact a disgrace to the highest office in this nation. I really could care less about arguing, but find it interesting that someone can twist the facts around from a person found guilty to say that the person was not found guilty by attempting to play on words to confuse the facts. Still think somone is confusing the vote to keep him in office with him being found guilty. I also have to agree that he in my opinion William Jefferson Clinton was far from the greatness some seem to attribute to him.

slugshooter
Re: Clinton Impeachment Our first impeached president was impeached for campaigning for members of his own party, even though no law prevented it, just goes to show you that partisanship ruled in the 1800's also.
