Tominator
Cleaning up the old house and garage and it's amazing what you accumulate in 15 years. Ran across a kitty litter pail that I thought was kitty litter (newest cat does the business outside, which is one reason it's still alive, but I digress...) Turns out, the pail was full of Buck Forage Oats from a couple of years ago, so guess what? I'm going to mow off a portion of the back 4 on the new property and till it up once it dries out. Should be perfect timing for a fall plot. I have no idea how viable that seed will be, but it's worth a try I guess.

Tominator
Food plot just got set back at least another week or so. Picked up close to 2" of rain today. Man, this is really ticking me off. Not so much for the food plot, but because I have a ton of outside work to do on the old and new house and I can't get it done. :bang:
Strut10
I have no idea how viable that seed will be, but it's worth a try I guess. Can't be that bad, Chris. I'll bet it takes right off and goes. Heck!!! The black oilers in my 2 acre plot came from a 25 lb. bag of Pennington bird seeds I got at Wally-by-Golly !!!!! :clown:
HUNTINGMAN
After not putting out any spring food for the animals I am looking forward to the fall plots.I have thought about those buck forage oats, are they as good as the comercials say they are. AaronS
Seed should still do well Chris. I'm hoping it dries out here too in the next few weeks. We had over 8 inches of rain last week and it's still raining. I'm hoping to plant 1.5 acres of winter rye around the 1st of September. Tominator
Just as an update, I got that plot tilled and I planted it about a week ago. I checked it yesterday, and I'm pretty sure the oats are indeed coming up. I'll try and post pics soon.

Tominator
Well, you guys were right, that seed did just fine. So tuck that away in your brain--Buck Forage Oats seed = viable after sitting in garage for 2 years. I took a pic 2 weeks ago I think it was. I'll take another pic and post them both soon.
