NiteRunner
I'm painting and framing Turkey feathers. One thing I've noticed is at the tip of the quill it leaves a wet mark. Will sanding away all the skin and maybe a little rubbing alcohol dry it up so it won't do this? Thanks! Would love to hear your response! > :phone: < That's cute! Had to use it! woolybear
Borax seems to fit the bill for any fleshy feather woes just fine. Give the quills time to dry up and you should be good to go. Skin should flake right off. I've also heard of and used salt solutions, but that seemed to make them extremely brittle over time. For just a display item though, that won't be moved much, it will be hard to go wrong any way you choose. Never tried the alcohol :wine:(well sorta),but I'd imagine that would work just as well for what you're doing. Chances are you got more than one feather to mess around with. Try anything and see what you like best, then be sure to let us know what's your prefference. Sure a few of us could get you some extra feathers to experiment with if need be. RTF
Clean the end of the quills with rubbing alcohol.
NiteRunner
I've used salt stuff, which didn't seem to dry it out very good. Gonna try the alcohol and see how that goes. I do have several that I can try different things on, I'm a feather collector , that's why I thought I'd come here and see if my RT buddies had any other suggestions. Thanks you two!!
