texastrophies
I put out a couple of trailcam in NM and they utilize an SD card. Seeing that they are about 2 miles & 1000 vertical feet from where I can park, I really only want to go to them one time each when I go check them in a couple of weeks. I would like to see what if anything is on them, if they are still there, without either taking my computer with me or bringing the trailcam out to the truck and then back up the mountain. My question is can I take the SD card out of the trailcam and put it in my regular camera and view any images on it? Trailcam is a Wildgame Timberview 2.0, regular camera is a Fuji. hammerforged
Maybe, however chances are that the trail cam and your cam will require a different formatting of the card so the card used in the trail cam will not be readable in your cam, but I would sure give it a try. camoman1
I tried that once and it didnt work. I think Hammerforged is right, its some kind of formatting issue....definatlely worth a try though.

texastrophies
Kind of what I figured. I don't mind switching the cards out with a new one, I just don't want to get the old one back to the truck and hook it up to the computer and find out I didn't get any pictures in 2 months and need to move the camera, or worse yet all I have is pictures of feet & legs. Zambo
Cuddeback sells a card viewer that runs on batterys. You can pull your card and place it in the viewer right in the field. Go to thier website or Cabelas sells one also. Jim
texastrophies
Thanks, but since these cameras are on public land and I don't even know if they are going to still be there, I really don't want to drop $150 on that. Now if it was reasonable, that thing would be perfect. I only spent a little over $100 for both of the cameras combined. Guess I can leave the spotting scope at home and carry the laptop in the back pack.
wtnhunt
If they were the same type camera it would probably work Jeff. I can view photos on cf cards with my minolta that were taken with leaf river trail cam. The minolta has a way higher resolution and it just has what looks like a thumbnail come up on the viewer screen, but you can enlarge them on the screen. Your trail cam should have a count on it, does it not have a viewer screen at all? Why not pick up a couple extra cards and just swap them out, ebay or buy.com or a number of other places should have cards in the 2gb range for around $10 or less. Here you go Jeff, if your cams will support a 4gb card check this link.

elkoholic
I would be amazed if the cameras were not there if they are that far from where you can park, unless they are near or on an established hiking trail. While there may be a formatting issue, I would be willing to bet you can view the pictures on most, if not all, digital cameras.
cinch314
Weird, it works on both my video recorder and digital recorder. Also I always change out the card too.
struttinhoyt
I swap SD cards... or I take my laptop with me... An extra 2GB SD card goes for less than 20 bucks... And I didn't think it would work but I just tryed my card out of my cuddeback in my wifes kodak camera and it'll view them... I would try it sometime and see if it would work.... dogdoc
doesn't the camera have an event counter?
backwoods07
As long as the camera has an SD slot you can. I've done that on several cameras and never had a reformatting issue. I've also used a portable GPS unit to look at pictures in the field.
toddyboman
As long as the camera has an SD slot you can. I've done that on several cameras and never had a reformatting issue. I've also used a portable GPS unit to look at pictures in the field. Not all digital camera and trail cameras are formatted the same.... I have a Kodak digital camera and I can take my sd card out of my moultrie cameras and view the pics....I also have 3 stealth cameras 2 I can cannot see the pics...but the other 1 I can. So it varies from camera to camera...... It sucks to have to drag your laptop that far back but might be your SAFEST option to see what you do or do not have on your cards. However I would take your digital camera or pda or gps if they have sd card readers maybe one of them will work and you will know for next time..... The other option would be to maybe call Wildgame and ask them if they know... Good luck
