What is it worth

Recommended Posts

Hey there, long time no post in here, huh?

You know, I am laying here in bed. It is 1:00 pm and I have been in bed for the third day. Hurting like all heck but that is the life I have now.

About 6-9 days a month on average, more if I really push it, I can get out of bed and often times even drive my poor old lonely truck two miles down the road to town.

Jeremiah Johnson is just now on and it ranks high as one of my all-time most favorite movies.

This Alaska trip for me is one of my all-time hunting dreams as is an Elk hunt for a 6X6 bull with huge, long and thick daggers curving upward off the top of his rack like a Samurai sword.

I think if I got that Elk, I may just be done with my dreams and stick to meeting some of the folks in here should I be blessed enough to be invited to meet and hunt with them. From Mexico to Toronto, I think that would be an awesome deal for the rest of my life. Just planning a trip or two each year and meeting and having fellowship with my RT friends.

Just now I got to wondering if I would be willing to risk my life in order to make a dream come true. I guess I answered that right off the bat when GW called me and asked me if I would be interested in going to Alaska. Heck, I broke into a cold sweat and had tears in my eyes the size of small ponds. I said I would crawl if I had to and my loving wife of 16+ years agreed.

How many of you would risk your life in one way or another to realize your hunt of a lifetime dream? Explain your dream and what you would do to make it happen.

I share alot of the same dream with you buddy. I have had 2 hip replacements and i often wonder if i could open range hunt or Elk hunt because my dream would be to Elk hunt in Colorado or Alaska. I def would risk my life to achieve my dream....I think dreams are the realization of what you were meant to do in life and achieving it. Good luck to you in the future and thanks for the wonderful post....

Hope you have a blast Norm. Me I would probably wait until my daughter was a bit older then try to defy the odds and go either Caribou hunting in Alaska or whitetail in Saskatchewan. I know that I would be in pain either way but the way I see it, is the the Good Lord will watch over me and that the pain just shows me that im still alive.
