camoman1
Im looking into getting one of those vest style harnesses (HSS etc) this year. I looked at a few at a store the other day, and noticed they range from $60 to $160. The HSS ones were the most expensive, started at about $100, and going to $160. Are the HSS brand that much better, comfort and safety wise, then the 'generic' brand ones?? And is it really worth getting the $160 one over the $100 one?? Anybody have any info or experiences with these??
wtnhunt
Guess it is all a matter of what you are willing to pay for comfort. Some of the vests are going to be more comfortable and probably a little easier to use than others, but all should function the same when it comes down to what really matters. They should all be tma approved no matter the brand. Me, I still use the seat of the pants that came with my summit climber. That harness I think expires soon, I need to check the tag on it before using it this fall. I did buy a vest from gorilla that you slip your harness through, but I did not care for the pattern on the vest and for some reason it was a little warm to wear in the early season. If I was looking to buy a vest I would be sure to buy one I could use for the entire season, meaning early season here where we still see 90's it would need to be a lightweight mesh. toddyboman
I have the HSS Treestalker Vest..... I LOVE IT!! I purchased it from BassPro during one of there sales and got if for $70 bucks.....Best $70 I ever spent. I like it better than any other I have ever owned....And I have purchased several others. It is light weight, easy to use, and comfortable to wear versus all the others that I had. I never purchased the HSS brand before because of price...I like you couldn't understand why they was so expensive versus other brands....Well I wish years ago I would have tried one out I think it is well worth the money. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_79341_425003006_425000000_425003000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT
jm23494
HSS makes a great harness system. Quick and easy to put on and take off. I just saw in the BPS flyer that they are selling the Treestalker harness on sale for $60 starting August 7.
johnf
I got a Gorilla vest harness for a present and was sadly disappointed with it. I guess I'm an odd size. I got a large and it couldn't come down to me, but the medium was too small. It was very heavy, complicated and hot. I got a HSS at walmart late season on sale for $35 and used it every time I went out after that. I've got a friend with a seat of the pants harness. If I had known about them I would have gotten one instead of the HSS. Very light, very easy, very comfy. The HSS is nice, but a little heavier and hotter than the sotp, but it's tons better than the Gorilla.
fly
HSS makes a great harness system. Quick and easy to put on and take off. I just saw in the BPS flyer that they are selling the Treestalker harness on sale for $60 starting August 7. Was about to post the same thing. I have one and use the heck out of it. I used to use the straps that come with the summit stands, but the treestalker is much easier to deal with and more comfortable. Personally I can't see paying over a hundred for any vest when the treestalker is available for 60.

RangerClay
I have the HSS Treestalker Vest..... I LOVE IT!! I purchased it from BassPro during one of there sales and got if for $70 bucks.....Best $70 I ever spent. I had this vest for a couple years and it was great. It was very comfortable. The only reason I upgraded was that I got a new HSS Pro Series for $69 on spring sale. I just saw in the BPS flyer that they are selling the Treestalker harness on sale for $60 starting August 7. If you have a Bass Pro Shops near you, they usually have the Tree Stalker on sale during the Fall Classic Sale. Check it out. Another good place to look is the Classifieds Room at Archery Talk. There is usually one or two on sale there at reasonable prices. If you can afford it. They are worth it IMHO. BearClaw
I personally use the HSS Bowhunter vest and I love it. Noticed in Wal-Mart they have a vest for $50 made by Remington (at least their name on it!)
hoosierhunter
whatever you do just make sure you actually buy one..... In reality a 160 bucks isn't that much when your talking about your livelyhood............Buy the one that makes you feel most comfortable and safe....... J.ALLEN.IA
I bought the HSS that's reversible a year ago. It was about $130, but it beats the pants off the plain Gorilla ones that you have to thread through straps, not easy when you have million layers on for the cold. The HSS, has buckle straps and quick connects for the lineman's cord. Would never go back. Either way a harness is a MUST.

Bowtech_archer07
Definitely agree that a harness is a must. I got the HSS Pro series vest for my birthday a month ago and will be trying it out this fall. I love the pockets and places to put your binos and your and rangefinder. I really think it's going to be a huge addition to deer hunting this fall.
