Strut10
Was at Cabela's in Wheeling yesterday and finally bought myself a trail camera. I picked up a Cuddeback Capture (flash....not the IR) and a 4GB card. Going out to the Ranch to strap it on a tree in a little while, here. I'm so excited!! Strut10
Well............it's up and armed. Can't believe how much more user-friendly it is than my mother-in-law's original Cuddeback. You may soon find yourself wanting another camera for other parts of the ranch. Checking cams depends on ease of getting to them without bothering the area. Got one on a mineral site here I can get to pretty undetected mid day. I check it about once a week, sometimes sooner when activity is way up. Areas that there are chances of bumping deer or making them feel pressure would not check them near as often. Your setup with a 4 gb card should last a good while even with the camera set to take its highest res pics.

Strut10
Your setup with a 4 gb card should last a good while even with the camera set to take its highest res pics. I messed that up. :hammer1: It's a 1 GB card. I had both the 4GB and the 1GB cards in my hand. When I made the post I wasn't thinking which I had put back and which I had kept. It's the 1GB. I think that should still be sufficient. I don't believe there's a way to change resolution on this camera. It's just a straight 3.0MP. Tom2008
A one gig should hold around 400 to 500 pictures I would have to say. A 2 GB on ours holds about 870.
hoosierhunter
I just bought the same camera and set up is as easy as I've ever had although I don't like not being able to change settings, but that's the sacrifice you make. I think in general you won't have to worry about your card filling up too quick because it's heat sensored instead of motion and it will only take one pic instead of multiples which last longer.....Overall I think it's a great value for what you pay.... When I made the post I wasn't thinking which I had put back and which I had kept. It's the 1GB. I think that should still be sufficient. 1GB will be fine Don for their cameras. I have 3 Cudde's. Daylight pics range from ~950KB's to 1.1MB's. Night pics are around 550 to 600KB's. With a mix of daylight and night pics you should easily be able to get 1,000 pics on a 1GB card. I think the most pics I've gotten on a Cudde in a week was around 600 but it's usually between 50 and 200 per week. If you don't have a 2nd card you will need one. That way you can switch cards in the field, re-set the camera on another spot (if you want to change positions), take the used card home to download pics, and keep the camera running full time. I have 2 cards for each of my 5 trail cams (3 Cuddes & 2 Reconyx) and a couple of extras if I run into a formatting problem with a card. ruttinbuc
I put one out at my brother's place looking to capture a bear that is terrorizing the neighborhood. I got 154 pictures that take up 55 MB. That is on an older Leaf River using a 512MB compact flash card. So far no bears, but a band of raccoons and a flock of marauding crows. They are fun these cameras. :clown:
Stone Cold
This has been one thing that I have bought wisely! You will not regret it at all! I at points get almost more excited to get a picture of a big boy than seeing does in the stand. LOL

Buckslayer
Hey, Matt!! Haven't heard from you in a while. Get them Indiana County monsters posted up!!!! Hey Don, Yeah I've been hibernating for a few months. I hate the summer heat. I prefer cool, crisp, enchanting Fall mornings and long walks through the Oaks. If it weren't for killing groundhogs and bass fishing I don't think I could get by.
