Ethan Givan
I did it. I think the season date is about right. We have had good success anyway.

Yeah but they all have alot of hens with them and you cant get them to budge. With the current season open date the hens are starting to lay so you can catch birds when the hens are gone. I think if they open the season too early then the hunting will be really frustrating for the first couple of weeks.

Not if you scout your birds and you know where they roost and where they go off the roost... knowing that makes for a quick morning
HUNTINGMAN
I think the first of April would be fine in the area I hunt. This isn't to early but it also isn't to late , usualy by the end of April we stop seeing ery m y birds in the feilds and they have over to the woods. Guest TennesseeTurkey
Here its one good week of gobbling and then week 2 is nothing.... because theyve been gobbling for almost 6 weeks before season opens.... there needs to be different season dates for southern to northern counties not one statewide open date... Ethan Givan
Not if you scout your birds and you know where they roost and where they go off the roost... knowing that makes for a quick morning I do scout and I do know where my birds are at although its hard hunting 6 sometimes 7 different farms. I manage to kill birds. But unless you get lucky and set up where they fly down within gun range it doesnt matter, cuz you wont call them to you very easily if they dont drop down within a reasonable distance. I think the season is about right, maybe one weekend earlier at most. If you think the hunting is hard now, it will be worse if they open it end of March or first of April. It probably is right for your county and where you are but here we miss the best weeks of hunting action....
