jasonbreedlove
I just want to say with all the new bows out there its like buying a computer for your home. This week you have the best there is and next week yours is outdated. Speaking of out dated my bow i shoot is one of a kind and I will match up with anyone of those fast shooters anyday. We all know the bow doesnt kill the animal the hunter does. My PSE Monarch UL (2002) bow has help me harvest 10 deer, 4 turkeys, 6 pigs, 3 rabits, and 2 sqarrels. If you are looking for a begineers bow but want performance and 310fps this bow is the one you have to find. I got lucky for 200.00 I got a bow that was worth 800 brandnew at a hunting expo. It has a shoot through riser for the ultimate accuarate shot. every one shoots sideways me I shoot straight. I mod my bow with Limbs Savers and string dampers (not leaches). Why PSE stop making her in 2002 I really dont know but i think it was a great design. My bow is totally redone with new cam bushings and zebra strings. I aw people when i shoot this bow because if your new to our sport , this is a never seen feature. I shot against a matthews DX and the bow couldnt spit the melon with one shot. I shot my Monarch split it and hit the glendale Buck. We are talking a black diamond mellon. No lie I am putting it on youtube. its not speed its kentic energy and persisson. I hate to brag but my bow is a good bow.
Ethan Givan
Ahhh anymore all these bows will shoot way more accurate than we can manage to shoot them. If a bow is a few years old and its set up right, it will still shoot just as good.

wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Might try not posting in bold next time around. Shame that manufacturers have to discontinue lines, but they have to make room for new lines and what they feel are improvements. I used to shoot a pse fireflite33. Was a really lightweight bow at 3.5 lbs, and plenty fast enough to shoot one pin. Kind of hurt my feelings a bit when a limb ended up cracked on that bow and they could not replace the limb. Ended up with a newer model bow out of the deal that shoots just about as fast, but that bow is almost a pound heavier. For now the pse for me is plenty accurate enough, but guess one of these days I am going to have to break down and try out some of the hoyt and matthews bows and see what all the hype is about. I was wondering what a Mathews DX was? Never heard of it? Maybe you meant a DXT. Do you know what poundage you were pulling compared to the Mathews bow? Were you shooting new technology carbon or outdated aluminum arrows? It seems to me that you are coming off a little strong in your post about how your bow can do this and that. I would like to let you know that I don't shoot sideways and I'm sure others will say the same thing about themselves. I don't understand where you get that everyone is shooting sideways except you? Anyone can get good kinetic energy out of a bow. They can shoot a high poundage with a heavy arrow. I think PSE got rid of your 2002 model because they had improvements to make. Now there is a bow out called the PSE X-Force GX. It shoots 350 feet per second and can produce around 95 pounds of kinetic energy. I would have to say that is an improvement. Again welcome and enjoy your stay.
Doc
I know, a lot of people think that it is the bow that gets the deer. That's what drives the bow prices up into the clouds and keeps so many people trying like crazy to keep up with the Joneses. I did my time trying to keep up with technology as fast as I could afford it. Fact is, I have a basement full of bows and other equipment that simply gather dust. I have drawers full of gimmicks and gadgets all guaranteed to be the latest thing to make your shooting flawless. At some point a bunch of years back, I realized that my time, effort and money would be better spent improving my own abilities rather than trying to buy them. No, I am not a world champion target shooter now, but I can consistantly hit what I want, and harvest any deer that gives me a decent ethical shot. Who can ask for anything more. For that matter, I look at those old bows on the wall, and realize that each one of those did a pretty good job of getting deer too. I spent an awful lot of money searching for bows that would magically perform miracles. I am convinced that the secret is not so much in having some magic bow but rather in intimately knowing the bow that you have and working with it to the point where you have confidence and ability. Lol....even my clunky old Bear Whitetail from the early 70's got plenty of venison. Doc

There is so much hype driven into the mix that today's bow hunter will never understand that concept. I have a lot of stuff in my buy it and try it drawer, too! Remember how thin the Cabelas archery catalog used to be?
redkneck
Sounds like you really like your bow Jason, but 2002 is hardly what i call old tech. I hunted with my high country for 15 years before trading up, lol...
Hoytguy
As long as you are effective with it, what else can you ask for.
