Gator Hunt

Any gator hunters on here?

I'm in Central Florida and looking forward to August 15th opener. I didn't pull a tag, but my best friend and his buddy pulled Lake Jesup- week one and week two.

I know Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi are now allowing gator hunting. I've seen some big ones coming from those states.

Later Gator,

Texas has some limited hunting also. I have always wanted to put in for the drawing, but I would probably draw and I don't have the slightest ideal about how you hunt gators.

Good luck to your buddies on their hunt. And welcome to the forums, take some pictures of the hunt and post them up with a story to show and tell us how it went.

Tags for non-residents are $1,000 in Florida and $270 for residents.

I've taken some guys from out of state and they can get a trappers asst. license for $52. That allows them to fully participate in the hunt. Not bad?

Fellas from Minnesota/Illinois took an 11'7" big boy and an 8'. The guy I took from Mexico had his 2 sons with him- the 14 year old took an 8 footer and the 17 year old took a 9'9". Got it all on video.

Lake Jesup is on the NE side of Orlando- between Oviedo and Sanford. BIG gators and lots of gators- it's probably the most sought tag by Orlando hunters.

Lake Monroe is also a great tag, but they only give out 5 of those. Both of these lakes are on the St. John's river- therefore the gators have lots of food----- big gators.
