Need some prayers please

I have only written about this in my blog.

I have been dealing with my Dad(79) in and out of the hospital for the past month now. My Mom(81) is in a wheelchair and is in poor heath herself(pacemaker and colostomy bag). My brother and I had to get Mom into a nursing home while we were dealing with dads medical issues. She cannot be alone.

My Dad was treated for Leukemia(chemo) a few years ago and seemed to be doing OK with that, even with his white blood cell count at 100K. But he also has asbestosis( from construction) which is complicating his breathing. Dad is having problems ridding his lungs of carbon dioxide and is oxygen level gets dangerously low which makes him kind of pass out. Last Saturday Dad had to be taken by ambulance again... to the hospital. They put him on a ventilator and are feeding him through a tube. I am feeling much emotion as I write this knowing what a strong man my Dad is, and how this is chipping away at his life before my eyes. We were told by the Dr. to discuss a DNR(do not resuscitate). I tear up just thinking about that. But it might become a reality that we will have to deal with one time or another.

They tried to remove the tube from Dads lungs today, but the DR. felt he wasn't strong enough to breathe on his own. They will try again tomorrow.

Dad is in a Hospital in Danbury,CT by my brothers home about 80 miles away. I live in NY, so I have been doing lots of driving.

So please, when you send up your prayers tonight add one more for my folks. They can really use it.

I'd really appreciate it.

This is why I have not been on much.

Thanks

Anthony

I wish you all the best Anthony! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Don't look at the DNR as a death sentence. It does not mean that folks with those orders are not cared for or helped in anyway possible. He will receive the same level of care with or without it. That is the law. DNR is for a code only of which there is no guarantee resusitation will work anyway. In my experience, the DNR orders are hardest for the family, not for the patient.

God Bless.

Thanks everyone for the prayers...I think they worked!

Pop was taken off the ventilator yesterday and seems to be doing better. They also found out he had pneumonia. That, with his leukemia and asbestosis made big trouble for his lungs. He was alert and sitting up last night. His first question was how my Mom is...his wife of 57 years.

I cannot thank you guys enough for the prayers.

I know the Lord has his plan. It is just hard to understand it. With the 2 of my parents dealing with health issues at the same time has been quite stressful.

Thank you all again...for your thoughts and prayers.

Anthony
