fly
Went to Cabela's today and made good use of the (spend more save more card). Bought a new B-square mount and a Tru-Glo Red dot scope for my old Wingmaster. The old shotgun is probably 50 years old or older. Strange thing is I bought the 20 guage Remington express B-square scope mount and it wouldn't fit. (I had the gun in my truck) I then took the gun into Cabelas and had them try. No luck. I then asked them if they thought the 12 guage scope mount might work. The guy said, we can find out and gave it a try. Fit like a glove! I was pretty surprised. Now I hope it gets me on target. I'm ready to say goodbye to paying almost 4 dollars a slug for my 12 guage remington 870 with a rifled barrel.
jesse8953
Good thing you took your gun with you.I use a old 16 gauge wingmaster with cheap remington slugs. It shoot as good as my friends 12 gauge with rifled barrel and those expensive slugs. He was kind of upset after we went shooting. His set up was alot more money and more money to shoot,he thought his should out perform my set up.We didn't shoot over 100 yards so he might have the upper hand but I don't shoot much past that distance,If I need a longer shot I will take my T/C
lil hunter
The old remington 20 gauge 870's were built on a 12 gauge frame. Most 12 gauge accessaries work for them. I'm not sure exactly when, but sometime in the 90's they finally built a smaller frame for the 20 gauge 870's. That would be why your old 20 gauge needed a 12 gauge mount. fly
Took her out and had a blast sighting her in today. Nice knowing each shot wasn't costing me 3-4 dollars! It took me about 5 shells to get close at 35 yards. Then I went out to 50 and was still in the black. The target below shows my shots at 35 and 50 yards. I'm going clean her good and get the final zero once it cools down a bit. Mid 90's today and the sweat was rolling down my face. Anyway, the black part of the target is about the size of a paper plate. I was very excited to see the old girl shooting this well. Currently it's as good or better than my 12 G. 870 express with a rifled barrel. I'm hopeful that once I get the final adjustments made to the red dot scope I'll be inside a grapefruit every time out to 50 yards.
