redkneck
I've shot 3 blade fixed broadheads all my life. Started ordering rocky mt out of a bass pro catalogue back in the mid '80s and then wasp, satellite, and finally muzzy. Today I picked up a dozen axis and I'm going to order 2 blade rage and some lumenocks to boot. I figure I might as well watch $35 bucks go with some flashing lights when I shoot them. Tom2008
Sounds like you have the ultimate hunting arrow. A rage broadhead on a easton axis arrow is a very deadly combination. Awesome choice in lighted nock too.

HUNTINGMAN
Those luminocks sound good , I have been wanting some of those myself. It's hard to get away from something tried and true like your muzzy heads , hope those fancy rages work out great for you.
layin on the smackdown
I figure I might as well watch $35 bucks go with some flashing lights when I shoot them. Haha Johnboy...I have a similar set up. Lumenok, G5 Montec, Nugent series 5575 arrow...($33) It sucks when you lose one of those arrows though, let me tell you, it makes you feel really stupid :hammer1:...its worth it though. I recommend it, and enjoy!

I didnt say I was giving up fixed blades Gary, just trying something new. I'll always have a muzzy in my bag of tricks. I've just never shot a mech, and you cant critique if you've never tried it! GWSmith
I'm cool with that...I'm just trying to get the same kind of deal on 6<--- yes thats 6-3 packs of Muzzy 3-Blades for $10 because the person was caught up in the American Broadhead craze at the time...So...LOL Dont shoot them non-popular broadheads...Send them to me...Fixed blades are the Devil:bat:
redkneck
Will send them to you the first deer I shoot with a rage and it actually field dresses the deer on impact! Personally, I'm a bit skeptical about a cutting diameter that big trying to deploy in the event i drill the shoulder. My muzzy's didnt even pass through the time or two i've done that, but they penetrated pretty deep.

GWSmith
What I truely believe is that if anyone gets even the least amount of confidence from switching to the "latest and greatest"(according to advertisement and professional hunter sponsorship) then it is worth them changing. If anyone believes that the newer broadhead will work better than what they had been using then they wont be concerned about that aspect at the time of the shot. Hopefully they will make a better shot because of that added confidence.! .................................Sincerely, GWSmith P.S. I haven't shot the Striker Magnums yet, but I cannot get away from the G5 Tekkans. Edited August 9, 2009 by Casey

I haven't shot the Striker Magnums yet, but I cannot get away from the G5 Tekkans. I still am, but I always try and test out new products. I sell archery equipment to people every day and if I can expand my knowledge by shooting different equipment than I will. I would shoot the Tekans, but they are illegal in Minnesota. I'm a firm believer of many products and there is a lot of good in most.
struttinhoyt
It sure don't take much to get 30 bucks in an arrow these days.... But I enjoy it.... and wouldn't trade this obsession for anything else....
Rhino
Due to personal experience, I'm not a big fan of Lumenoks. I've bought a couple of 3 packs in the past and both times one didn't work out of the pack. The 2 that worked from the first pack broke the 1st time after killing deer. I had no problem putting them in Goldtip arrows but they were too big to fit in the Carbon Force X Weave arrows I shoot with my Guardian. According to their instructions they must be sanded down to fit. Broke one of those wires on one doing that. Out of 6 Lumenoks I've bought I have 1 left that works. It hasn't been sent through a deer yet. I ordered some Easton Tracer Nocks last week instead of Lumenoks. I hope they're more reliable, for me anyway and hold up better through the shot. It is very cool to watch your lighted nock in flight and leaves no question where your arrow hits a deer.
redkneck
Well I havent ordered them yet, so I'm open to some opinions on lighted nocks. Don't you have to install a magnetic pickup on the rest for the tracers? I have read on multiple sites that lumenocks are much brighter than tracers, but as you pointed out Allan, there's also a lot of issues with those nocks at installation. Anyone ever shot these: http://www.firenock.com/index.htm

Anyone ever shot these: http://www.firenock.com/index.htm The firenock is one of the worst lighted nocks on the market from my experience. The brightness doesn't even compare to the Lumenock. The tracers are a good nock and brand new to the market. Lumenock has been so far the best lighted nock out there that I know of and have used. I've never had one break while hunting or shooting. Rhino
Don't you have to install a magnetic pickup on the rest for the tracers? Actually it's usually mounted on the side of your riser (according to the instructions) using some small Velcro round tabs. It just needs to be within 1" of the nock as it passes through. The magnet is round, 1/2" wide, and 1/10" thick.
fly
Likely you know this Red and even if not many hunters could care less. However, I did find out last fall that Pope and Young will not accept a deer that was harvested via a lighted nock.

Not a big concern to me, I don't suppose. If I harvest an animal of that caliber, I'd like to know I have the best chance of recovery, regardless if my name goes into a book. Alan, let me know how you like your tracers. The pickup doesn't concern me, but I'm more curious as to the fit/brightness. ildrhntr
You will love how they fly. They do fly like field points and I have heard nothing but good things about the holes Rage broadheads make. I switched to them from Muzzy 3 blade 100 gr for my Antelope hunt. However, I did find out last fall that Pope and Young will not accept a deer that was harvested via a lighted nock. I understand that fly. I don't even take them with me when I'm hunting those big midwestern bucks you have up there. It would have to be an exceptional buck for me to go through the process of entering another buck in P&Y though. I will use them here in MS, especially when wackin does. The chances of killing a P&Y buck here in MS during our bow season is almost as hard as killing a B&C up there. By the time our rut starts to crank up (late December) the masses of gun hunters have been in the woods here for a month. Alan, let me know how you like your tracers. The pickup doesn't concern me, but I'm more curious as to the fit/brightness. Will do John...I just got them today and haven't put them on any arrows yet. Just went through reading the instructions before that other post.
Firenock
May I know why? The firenock is one of the worst lighted nocks on the market from my experience. Where did you purchase yours and what real experience you have so I know. regards Dorge Huang Operating manager, Firenock LLC
