woolybear
Curious if someone can tell me how RT picks it's guests to film for their shows. Watching the weekend shows most every weekend much as I can and most guests seem to me to be sports celebrities and family of the RT gang themselves. I understand sponsorship and the kickbacks involved but IMO these are all folks that can very well afford to go on one of these hunts at their own expence when and if they chose to with the connections they have. Race car drivers, country singers, baseball hot shots and football players. Here in a few I'll be watching another show where the crew seeks out "Average Joes" at bars, hotels, marinas, restaurants, etc,etc..and as long as they have a passport and get the ok from anyone that may matter, they take them on the fishing trip of a lifetime. They have a blast, and the guests appear more excited and appreciative than most celebs I catch on the RT shows. Just wondering why RT doesn't do more of this for those of us that wear their products for 6 or more months out of a year like it's our team jersey or our job. Here in NY we got to wear our numbers and names on our backs before the games can begin like any sports figure. ...so what gives?? Hope this doesn't come accross as being malicious in any way, I just think there's alot of unknown talent out there that would appreciate such an oppertunity soo much more than some of the chosen stars. Just a question that came to mind. Figured I'd ask:)
GWSmith
I just had a conversation with a good friend about the very same thing. We both soon started talking about this show: http://www.highergroundoutdoors.com/ ..and you can nominate someone here: http://www.freedomproductionsinc.com/Higher%20Ground%20Outdoors/web-content/index-5.html

That is a good idea...hunt with "everyman"

Think you may have answered your own question...maybe Realtree isn't paying their way...they pay their own way and it doesn't cost realtree a dime. *Plus* now they have another well known face to video killing a big buck...sorta like free advertisement? Just guessing...I have no idea how they pick folks to hunt with them or who pays what.
stevebeilgard
most folks like to see others, especially celebrities, on tv huting just like them. in the '60 we had curt gowdy hunting & fishing with bob hope, bing crosby, and the stars of the day. that system works. randy oitker is putting something together like "realtree realpeople", where you can send in a film of you hunting.
