redkneck
You have a private message. Can you enlighten me as well? I did one last year that turned out pretty good, but still havent whitened it. Was going to get some of the high concentrate dental hyd peroxide i see on ebay sometimes for like ten bucks, but not sure if this is the best to use or not. I think someone mentioned a whitening kit at cabella's or something a while back.

I have used plain ole Hydrogen Peroxide in the past, but last year bought a VanDykes euro kit with the powder and peroxide in it, and I like it ALOT better. My first skull turned yellow after awhile. Friend of mine uses the same kit, and he has some that have been done about as long as my first, and they haven't yellowed yet
Adjam5
Bleaching will deteriorate the bone. Use ONLY peroxide to whiten it. Beauty supply stores sell the heavy duty peroxide 30-40% that is used to color hair. I buy the white peroxide and brush it on the skulls then mix a paste with borax and peroxide and cover the skull with that. Make sure you protect the antlers/horns with aluminum foil or it will whiten that also. Go easy on the wash out because heavy water spray will ruin the nasal cavity. You really can't go wrong with that kit from Van Dykes either. http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/102434/skull-bleaching-kit The Peroxide alone. http://www.vandykestaxidermy.com/product/102999/40-volume-hydrogen-peroxide There are many threads on here about doing Euro mounts. Do a search.
RTF
Beauty supply stores sell the heavy duty peroxide 30-40% that is used to color hair. In certain states, you have to be a licensed beautician to purchase this kind of peroxide from them directly.
mike13candace
I Bought a kit from Cabelas, worked awesome. Bleach does work. Be careful on the amount you use.

Can eat away at the skull after years of sitting.

Exactly why recommend using Baqucil or Soft Swim to whiten skulls. As with any chemical you must use extreme caution. The above chemicals listed will eat your skin off!
