GWSmith
Talking to a good friend about this appliance today on the phone I went looking for some decent pictures of it on the Interent and found none. So...I took some of my own and they turned out fairly well so I figured I'd share them with everybody. These pic's show the ThermaCell Appliance(same appliance just different printing on them) with the elevated stand for holding a scent pad. That scent pad works well when heated by the appliance with any scent you want to put out there(apple juice works too if you've got some apple trees around) A couple pic's of the small elevated stand that clips onto the grate of the appliance and a couple of the grate in place. I've fielded a few questions from different people about the ThermaSCENT and figured that I'd show those people what I was trying to describe: The stand and scent pad... A little closer showing the difference between the sides of the stand. In this pic the left side of the stand would clip on first then the right side would be pushed down to hold it on the grate.... Attached to the appliance... With the scent pad in place ready for the scent...
buckee
That's pretty cool. I love using scents while hunting whether they be apple scent or deer scents. I might just have to save up for one of those. It's is hard to get scents working properly on those cold frosty days.
Rhino
I like that idea!! Now I've got a good reason to buy another hunting related tool Gary.
RangerClay
I just bought a Thermascent from Joe (Squirrelhunter91) last winter. I cannot wait to use it. Thanks for the great tips Gary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
backwoods07
Hmm, never saw that before. Interesting. I sort of lost faith in attractant scents over the last couple years, but to each his own!
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Going to give this a try this year. I've had my thermacell for a couple years now, works great. Headed down to cabelas today and bought 2 more, because my dad wanted one. Great deal to, they had a twin pack of them for $29.99, couldn't pass it up. Will probably order the thermascent sometime this week. Maybe use one with me for the early season to keep bugs away, and use another with the thermascent out about 20 yards from the stand. What type of scent do you use or recommend with it Gary?
GWSmith
I've used just about everything so far from deer urine liquids, gels, and even fruit juices(apple). What I found to be the most effective though is taking the scent pad and sealing it in a ziploc bag with what you decide to use. That way whatever scent I used is saturated into the pad. It also seemed to last a little longer that way and did not dry out as fast. One tip to remember...Always place the ThermaScent out in front of your position and inbetween you and where you expect the deer to come from. This is a must when your doing any calling since they will try to get downwind of you before coming in. Having the scent stream intercepting them circling downwind will help you see more deer. This method is a killer with a decoy...set the ThermaScent right on the ground underneath the decoy. LOL...It's been alot of fun experimenting. It's like they hit a brick wall when they go downwind and catch a whiff. If you want to see a deer do a perfect 90* turn and head your way give it a try. hammerforged
I don't know how I got along without my Thermacell or my Thermascent.
GWSmith
LOL...Just found this hiding on an old cell phone that I just recently got to download all the pictures from. The quality isnt any good but you can see the ThermaScent now, with the white scent pad in place, pointed at on the stump. If I remember right this was an early season Bow hunt and I was using the Apple Juice(there were apple trees nearby)....saw a couple deer on that hunt too just never got the angle I wanted for a shot.
