Guest J_Owens_66
If you were reloading for the .257 Weatherby Mag. Would you want a good bonded bullet such as a Nosler Accubond, X Bullet? Or a Regular ole bullet. I figure u would need the bonded just incase you hit a bone with that velocity, but what if you hit no bone, it would just be a pass through, not much expanding? AJ, what bullet would you shoot out of this cartridge?
AJ
Re: .257 Weatherby Mag. Bullets Depending on what bullet weight you choose, the pill is going to be exiting 3300-3600 fps. I would choose a bonded bullet at minimum for this cartridge. If you know the shots are going to be at medium to long range (over 150 yards) most bullets will work fine. The velocity will be down to about 3000 for big game bullets and they will still perform very well. Close shots, out to 100 yards, is where the premium bullets come into play. They will hold together better and still provide adequate expansion but not varmint like explosive expansion. I shoot the Scirocco in a couple guns. I have been very pleased with its performance. I am pushing the 30 cal 180 gr bullet 3250 fps. I have taken deer from 10 yards to well past 100 and it does a great job. It is super accurate also.
