Honest opinions on Cuddieback Capture.

I currently own a very old Leaf River scouting camera that I bought from someone off this site. It has had a hard long life working 24/7 for many years now. It is of very good guality and still works, but I am thinking it is on borrowed time. The only drawback is it is a little difficult for me to re-set or program or whatever you want to call it whenever I take the CF card out because I lost the users manual. Anyhoo, I have been thinking about purchasing a Cuddeback Capture as their ads say they are very easy to set up. I do not believe much in what ads say nor the testimonials featured in ads as I firure many of them are fake. So what I am looking for is honest opinions form any of you guys that have one of these. Do you like it ? Hate it? What are the pros and cons? What is the quality like? Anything you can tell me to help me to make the right decision would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I love it. It's the best camera we have on the farm, and we've gone through a decent amount (Wildviews 1-4, Moultrie D40, I40, I60). The quality is great, both day and night. The trigger speed is the best I've seen. The battery life isn't as great as the Moultries, but is still decent.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the longest lasting camera that we have right now.

I have very mixed feelings about Cuddeback. On one hand I love they picture quality and the ease of use but on the other hand, since I first bought one, not a year has gone by where I have not had to send one back to fix some problem with the sensor. A majority of the time I have not had to pay for the repairs so I really have no complaints about their customer service.

When it came to repairs the Capture was no exception. After about 4 months I had to send it back to have the sensor repaired. Even after sending it back I have had some problems with it this summer. Some of the pictures come out transparent but that may have to do with the location of the sun. One thing that is really annoying that I have found with the Capture is that you cant let the batteries die completely or you will lose all your pics. I have had this happen on a few occasions. I would like to note however, that this is probably not typical of all Captures and that I have had some bad trail camera luck with many different models, not just cuddebacks.

Now having said all that bad stuff, there are many things about the Capture that I like. The picture quality rivals the top cuddeback models. It is also extremely easy to use. It operates on a dial and two buttons. All you have to do is turn the dial to the delay that you want. All in all I think that the Capture is a good camera, there are just some kinks that need to be worked out. It is a great camera if you want an easy to use camera and just want to take pictures without all the extras.

Here are a few sample pics

Thank you all for all of your tips. I'll have to do some serious thinking as The Leaf River I have has been ultra dependable. I just wish it was easier to use. HMMM, lots to think about and it wouldn't be that big of an issue if $200.00 was nothing to me, but that is a lot of money to drop on something that is just going to disappoint you.
