Gator
But this time with a pic!!! Was a little bored last night, so I decided to go look under some old tin laying in the grass/trees last night to see if any snakes were around. Second piece I lifted up had the bigger darker one under it. Of course, I didn';t have my gun, so I had to go retrieve it. Dumb copperhead was still there. One good shot of #8 at 3 feet and his head was no more. Pulled up another piece and the lighter one was under it, missed the fisrt shot, to close and I aimed under the head, but second shot took care of business. All in all 6 copperheads and 2 pygmy rattlers were killed last night. I had gone to the store, and met up with neighbors son, he was on his dirtbike. He had killed a copperhead at thgeir house earlier when I was down there. Anywho, we go to the store, and on the way back I run over a copperhead, he gets a pygmy and catches and releases a black snake. I get my fourwheeler and we cruise the backroads, 1 more pygmy and copperhead bite the dust. Think we seen ten snakes all together last night. here's a pic of the two I shot. Pete was not allowed to play last night, I locked him in the house. It's to hard to shoot one when he is bouncing in and out of the dang snakes face

woolybear
Pretty neat pattern on the top snake. Long as you're wackin 'em I sure wouldn't mind getting my hands on a couple of those skins. Hint hint. I suppose you just toss them in the field or something anyhow huh? Pete's probably pretty ticked a you about now.

hammerforged
Any chance you know how to skin and tan them, or know someone who does? Those would make beautiful inserts in knife sheaths.
Gator
Evidently ya'll never seen me around one even dead!!!! I want go near them. I hate touching the dang things. Sorry guys. They just give me the heebie jeebies. Yeah, Pete doesn't like it when I pull a gun out and go outside and he is left inside. He pretty much goes OVERHYPER when a gun comes out. Buckslayer
Wow that's a lot of venom to worry about! I don't mind seeing a timber rattler up here, or a copperhead every once in a while, butttt 10 in one night is a little excessive for my liking! wtnhunt
I don't tan em Ross, but I run into a few copperheads around here every now and then. Will try to remember next time we have one in the yard. You might want to put out some moth balls in places near your house Jason, they do work, and a lot cheaper than snake away too. Try reaching out to them, you just dont understand them. :clown: I killed a decent sized cottonmouth yesterday. A little too close to my trail cam spot. Don't see too awful many copperheads around here, just a couple this year. Nice patterns on your pic.
mandyjo62
Ughh...Sickkk. I hate snakes lol Luckily no copperheads here. Just western diamondbacks... You should really do something with them though besides waste the skin

birdhunter39
i ain't never had a copperhead , but i have had rattler b4 , here's what you do to stop this from happening , kill one grill it with mushrooms , oinions , and cajun seasoning , and have a feast right in front of the other snakes it just might scare them off ,or you can fry it season to taste , a tall glass of sweet tea ( to drink )
jerdanmagic
10 in one night? That's crazy! I have always thought some copperhead boots would be sweet lookin. Be careful out there.
Gator
Suck It Up Jason ... A chance to get Ross some material to do his majic with, is a day to suck it up .. and get those snakes skinned and shipped ... lol .. if you ain't man enough, have your daughter do it for ya .. Look here Mr Mooch, I could give a Rats hairy butt who wanted these skins (no offense Ross) I ain't touchin the dang things, AT ALL. I have threatened to shoot one person, and absolutely whip the tar out of a couple of others if they even come CLOSE to me with a snake. And Kevin is right, it IS a good thing you live in Vermont, or I'd just freeze the dead ones and bring them to YOU, and see how big a boy YOU are. Don't you EVER question my manhood, understand? There's some things I DON'T forget........ BTW, it wasn't 10 copperheads we seen, just 10 different snakes. But total copperheads killed was 6. And usually we pretty much trash thyem if we get them with a truck or 4 wheeler. Pete just rips them into multiple pieces Also, don't know if ya'll realize it or not, copperheads are pretty small. A big one is 2 foot long. and they aren't very big around Edited August 17, 2009 by Gator
Jeramie
Copperheads are thick in Okieland. Luckily they are the least poisonous of all snakes around here. They sure are pretty snakes!
VermontHunter
WOW !! I was only kidding ,, bad day or what ... and where's this Mr. Mooch thing coming from ... I think I pay for what I get .. SORRY if I offended ya ...
