Whitetail22
Are RAGE BROADHEADS any good ?
SaskSniper
I used them on my bear this spring. They are very deadly. He didn't go 50 yards; although I double lunged him so he would have been done either way. But the damage it did was incredible. I will definitely be using them when I go for mulies, in a few weeks here. I've heard too many good things and seen to many successful outcomes on hunting shows to not give them a shot(literally haha). I used to shoot muzzy's and no doubt they are tried and tested to be great as well. Personally I like the idea of an expandable shooting like a field tip but thats me. MichiganHunter
VERY VERY VERY VERY GOOD......I made a bad shoot (high and a bit back) and the buck went 32yds The blades opened and cut a hole the size of a pop can right next to the spine and knocked out everything. I would have had a 100+ yard track if it weren't for those heads. 2-blade
earnhardts12000
i personally won't shoot expandables any more i shoot nap crossfires takin 4 deer in last 5 yrs with no problems
Hoyt03
I sure hope they are good to cost about 15$ per head.
RangerClay
If you do a search up above you will find there are several threads about Rage broadheads in the last couple months. I did not like the Rage broadheads. They would pop open on the quiver and if I bumped my bow or arrow in my pop-up blind, they would open. I switched to the Epek XC-3 and so far I like them MUCH better. They shoot like field tips and are not as sensitive.
dbHunterNY
They are expensive, but so aren't a lot of your good quality broadheads. I shot Muzzys, then Wasps, and just last year I switched to the two blade Rage. They all worked and got the job done, however I will not switch any time soon. I'm pretty sold on the Rage head so far. Casey
Remember its all about shot placement, I've heard good and bad about the rages. I personally like G5 Strikers and G5 Tekkans.
mioeh
I have swtich to Rage 3 blade and I am very satisfied.
Tom2008
Very pleased with the Rage broadheads. Do a search and you'll find a bunch of threads about the Rage. All my buddies use them we love them. Last spring my buddy blew through 2 shoulder blades of a hog with the 3 blade rage. Yes they do work really well. nemodeerhuntersneighbor
I didn't like the 3 blades so I switched to 2 blades last year and got along great. I agree with the earlier post about them coming open in your quiver, very annoying. But when you see that 3+ inch entrance hole it's worth all of the drawbacks. I made a marginal shot on the biggest buck of my life and I truly believe if I had been using any other broadhead, the deer would've been down. Apparently bucks get me all gitty!!! Rage suggests the 3 blade for Elk and Moose because it gets better penetration. Buddy of mine shot through 2 shoulder blades of a hog with the 3 blade. On another note the rage is supposed to open on impact. If you are shoving it into a quiver with out pre-cut holes than yeah they are going to open because that is what they are supposed to do. Get a quiver with pre-cut holes or cut some out yourself and they won't open in your quiver. Edited August 16, 2009 by Tom2008
Mirage
I Like the 2 blade rage one of the best mechnicals on the market. Huge holes. Thats what you want. The 3 blade rage I very much dislike them. They Did not leave a great blood trail on the three deer I shot last year. They all came unscrewed from my arrow upon finding the arrow, My freind shot a mountain reed buck in africa last year and the broadhead was gone when he found his arrow on the pass through. Not good. i like the 2 blade though. But I do have to confess I went back to fixed thunderhead 100s theyjust work everytime for me. I shot many deer with the spitfires but I have had some kickouts with them. When the blades deployed they kicked the arrow out because I was at such a sharp angle."hunting from a treestand" Nver had that with thunderhead. At least not yet. But make no mistake 98% shot placement 2% broadhead just my opinion
hyperflow
Been shooting Rage for 2 falls now and love them. I shoot 3 blades only.
nemodeerhuntersneighbor
Rage suggests the 3 blade for Elk and Moose because it gets better penetration. Buddy of mine shot through 2 shoulder blades of a hog with the 3 blade. I shot a buck in the front shoulder with a rage 3 blade and it didn't even penetrate deep enough to draw blood. Just muscle tissue on the broadhead. Now granted that was not a good shot but it should have penetrated farther than that.
dlriggins
I plan on using them this fall first time with an expandable hope I like em as mutch as some of the guys in here
Hardwood_HD
i shot the montecs for a couple years and loved them, i took 3 deer with them and all were douple lung but i didnt have a good blood trail on any of them so i switched to rage 2 blade last year and shot a deer with them, ill definatly be shooting them again this year.. i dont like mechanicals but i do like the rage
ShortDraw
I personally don't like them at all. Seen a 3-blade blow up on a 5-yard shot on a 'lope last year. The two-blade would be the only one I would shoot, if I had too. Not saying there a terrible head and they won't work, but I just think there's better heads out there. Too me it's not worth risking a possible failure with an expandable when a slicktrick or shuttle t has no problem hitting with FP's at 60+ yards... my $0.
jdavis
I shot a buck in the front shoulder with a rage 3 blade and it didn't even penetrate deep enough to draw blood. Just muscle tissue on the broadhead. Now granted that was not a good shot but it should have penetrated farther than that. I also shot a deer in the front shoulder blade and it blew right thru it and was sticking out of the ground on the other side (with the 3 blades). It makes a big difference where you hit them in the shoulder. If you hit them high in the shoulder there is a better chance it will penetrate farther; this is a much softer and thinner part of the bone. Hitting them lower in the blade and you risk hitting the "ridge" that is on the blade. If you hit this chances are it won't matter what broadhead you are using. You're probably not going to get much penetration.
bghunter777
I have been shooting the 3 blade for 2 years now I love the blood trails you get w these heads although you dont ussually need them the deer die within easy finding distance when shot well. i have taken 2 bucks and 3 does with the 3 blade head. I am however trying out the 2 blade this year. for those with penetration concerns try the 1.5 inch 2 blade.
