Orion_70
Well, I had a large oak tree fall down in the yard the other day so I had to cut it up and start moving it. I had been chainsawing that thing all day and whacking some of the small limbs off with a hatchet that I just sharpened. My girlfriend was helping me move some of the stuff and as I whacked a couple little limbs off about the size of my thumb, I said.. "That's what a sharp hatchet will do.." as it ricocheted off a limb and caught me on the shin a couple inches below the knee. I looked down and saw the jeans cut and the blood flowing. I had to go to the ER and get a few stitches and ruin a good saturday..
redkneck
Ouch! Yeah, them little tools will kill you! Once my brother was cutting up some stuff for a camp fire with a machete. When he was done, he tried to throw the blade and stick it into a stump. It sprung back and caught him between the eyes. He looked like frankenstein for a while after that with all the stitches. Hope you heal up fast!

buckee
Irony is just yesterday I watched a show about loggers and the guy had on these super thick chaps to protect his legs. I've had my share of quick..."What the...hey...Oh Crap..I'm bleeding" events in my life:o Yep..me too. I had a chainsaw kick-back on me once, and it flew up in the air, came around, and lucky for me, only hit my knuckle with one tooth. That one tooth did a number, but I could have lost my finger or half my hand. Those logging chaps have saved my legs many times. But ya know .. You stand more of a chance cutting yourself with a dull tool, as you do a sharp one. The sharp ones just do more damage ... LOL:)

sluggunner
I hope you heal quickly and without any problems. heep the wound clean. Isn't it amazing how quickly things can change, one second you are just going about your day everything normal and routine and the next you are bleeding all over the place and your world is in turmoil. A good lesson here for all of us to always be extra careful when using sharp tools or the wepons of our trade as they can do a lot of damage very quickly and with very little effort. hunterbobb
When I was in the Boy Scouts we had a woodcraft card we had to carry. Anytime you had an accident with a knife or axe you would get a coener cut off the card. If you lost all four corners you were not allowed to handle a knife or an axe for six months. You my friend have lost a corner. By the way, why was your leg postioned so that a ricocheting axe could hit it. This is some thing you should always consider. hungry hunter
What in the Wide world of sports are ya doing? Ya cn't get hurt with Bow season around the corner. The wife told me yesterday that a big oak limb fell on my tree stands, Yep it sure did. I pulled it with the truck into the burn pile, since she put a round roll of hay on top of the chain saw in the bed of the truck and asked why was it there. As for the tree stands, one shooting rail removed, the other is toast. All ready got a new one ordered. See ya in the woods. Don't cut no more wood!!:crutch:
