Guide Gear ladder stand.............

I'm sort of finishing up the assembly on a Sportsman's Guide Guide Gear 20' Deluxe ladder stand.

I say "sort of" finishing up, because I have no idea exactly how the dumb thing is supposed to go. The directions are for the assembly of a stand that is very similar.....but not exactly like what came in the box. What I have put together appears to be a working, structurally sound stand. However.....I have 2 pairs of bars (one set about 18" long, the other set around 40" long) that are not in the directions and seem to not have a home. Two of the bolts I had left are too long for where they (apparently) need to go. This whole thing is a cluster****. I've bought and assembled many, many treestands.......many of them from Sportsman's Guide. Never, EVER had any problems like this.

Is this a single or two person ladderstand?

Here's the 20 single:

Just thought of something I remember from putting my stands together.

The longer bolts went through the places where there was more than 2 sections of stand attaching together...like where you railing swivels;)

I have the Guide Gear two person stand in the garage I can take pics of for you if you need them;)

Thanks, GW. But it's a 1 person stand.

I think (between me and Uncle John.....he got one, too.) we've got these things figured out............sort of.

But the bottom line is:

A: How are we sure that they're together right when the instructions are not for the pieces that came in the box??

and......

B: The picture of the stand in the catalog and on the website is not what comes in the box.

What happens if we put these things up and there's a failure?? Who's liable??

There'll be a call to SG customer service in the very near future.

Called customer service last night. Gal was real helpful. Put me on hold for about 10 minutes. She went to some guy in their products dept. Evidently mine was not the first call on the matter. I guess he went to putting one of the stands together as we spoke. He was to figure out how it was supposed to go then call me (and all the other concerned customers) back tonight.

Phone ain't rang yet.

And just how sure are you that HE knows what he's doing? What makes him an expert...if he has the "correct" directions...wouldn't it be more helpful to email them to you or send a copy?

BTW, if I'm invited out to hunt this year...I don't want that stand...lol
