sluggunner
Here is a photo of a male coyote I mounted for myself, the skull he is sniffing came out of a doe I took a couple of years back. I cleaned it up and saved it knowing I wanted to do a coyote pose like this someday. I just finished this mount last winter. I am not a Taxidermist, but I do it just for myself as a hobby as I could never afford to have a professional do it for me.
RTF
SLUGGUNNER, thats very nice. Great job. How did you tan the cape ? What kind of ear liners did you use ?
woolybear
I sure like that alot. Very realistic way to capture both all in that mount. I give ya a ribbon for creativity that's for sure. Very nice.
sluggunner
Tan & Earliners I used Krowtann from Ozark Woods, but only after after lots of degreasing with Kemal -4 by Knobloch. The ear liners are called Actual Ear Earliners I got them from Mckenzie taxidermy supply. They are expensive, About $14.00 but VERY detailed and accurate. fly
Do you just do your own stuff? Looks great to me!
sluggunner
Just a hobby. Yes Fly, I just do my own stuff as a hobby. I always have people asking me to mount things for them (friends, relatives, co-workers.) I can't do that without getting a Wisconsin taxidermist license and a business license and all of the other hassles that go along with it. It is just not worth it. I taught myself how to do taxidermy when I was in high school so I could mount things the way I wanted to with more unique poses etc... Plus there is no way I could afford to pay someone to do all of the work that I have done for myself over the years.
