wtnhunt
Buck activity seems to have picked back up around our cam at the minerals. Best deer I saw last year was a 3.5 year old 7 pointer, don't know what happened to that deer if he made it or not. Saw several deer that were weak on one side or the other. This year been following I think 4 different 8 pointers as they have progressed. These three seem to be hanging together pretty regular for now, the other one is usually with does or by himself. Same group, different camera. Tallest one of the bunch looks wider in this pic. Too bad it did not snap a second or two earlier. This 7 pointer looks to have the same genetics as the one I was after last year, not nearly as big though.
buckee
WOW..You've got some dandy bucks hangin around there William. Let's hope the dogs and Yotes don't get the better of them before hunting season. I lightened a couple of those pics, just to get a better look. wtnhunt
WOW..You've got some dandy bucks hangin around there William. Let's hope the dogs and Yotes don't get the better of them before hunting season. Actually we have been hearing the yotes in the bottom pretty regular Steve. Think they have been after fawns and turkey poults, maybe also scavenging on what they can find along the river where water has gone back out from the summer flooding back in July. We really need to get back after the yotes, getting too close to deer season now though, keeping our activity in those areas to a minimum. Think the lulls in our buck activity have maybe had to do with the water levels. The tallest buck there is the one I hope to get a shot on with my bow, with those tall tines and long brows he looks genetics wise like he could be a great great grandson. Not too bad for backyard bucks.

wtnhunt
That's an understatement :) You followed along my journal and know what I went through with the one I was chasing last year Steve. Think that buck was a little wider than any of these, don't know for sure what happened to him whether he made it through or not. Towards the beginning of the growing season thought one of these might have been the same deer, but not so sure now, just don't think any of these bucks are quite wide enough. This year should be a bit better, have lost track of how many different bucks we have had come to the minerals in the past month or so. Should be a fun season, hoping to get a lot of video. Tom2008
Seems like the bucks are getting bigger around your area William. I remember back when I first started seeing some of your trail cam pictures the bucks were a bit smaller. You have a great group of them around this year. Hope they stick around for you and the family.

We used to have some really good deer around here, know we had a few that were hanging around make it through last year. We have gotten some pics of better bucks over the years, but this is probably the best group pics we have gotten. Cannot remember having before gotten 3 8 pointers in one group. Adjam5
Some good bucks there William. Hope you or one of the girls gets to wrap their hands around a set of those horns. Go find those traps out in the barn and start putting a hurting on them yotes! More fun though with the AR:).

With things being set back with the house, not sure how much time I am going to get to hunt, hopefully will get some good afternoons of archery early on before too much pressure comes on. Nothing would make me happier than seeing Christina drop one of the two bigger 8 pointers on the youth hunt or Catrina tagging one on the ml'er opener.
