Need to Vent

I had been shooting my new bow off and on again from spring into summer, was getting pretty psyched and accurate with it. I had noticed a little string wear and had just decided to take it to a pro-shop and get it re-strung, as well as a complete tuneup. I bought this bow used and wanted to get it fitted for me and figured if I'm going to do it, now was the time..

I took it to a very reputable pro shop in the middle of July and was told this would all be done in a week, which was good for me.

A week came and went, when I called them they said the strings were being shipped, maybe 2 or 3 more days tops. Two weeks came and went, same story. 3 weeks was this Monday and I called and they apologized up and down, said they'd have it done today.

This morning at 10:00 AM I got a call from them, bow was ready and they had shot a few times and I would love it. They asked if I could come by and shoot a few times, it was ready for pickup.

I went at lunchtime to get it, first thing I noticed was the peep hadn't been replaced as I asked. I got to looking closer and found the string hadn't been changed and there was dust on the riser...they hadn't even touched it!

When I asked them, they backpedaled and ended up saying they were mistaken, and it would be done Friday. I wouldn't even set the bow down, we had words and it got pretty heated with me finally saying the service was pitiful and I would take my chances elsewhere.

I called another pro shop that I've also heard good things about, walked in and was immediately given a whole different treatment. Everything was professional, everything made me feel comfortable and that they 'been there' before. I was even told that I'd be shooting my newly tuned, strung bow this Saturday!

So, I went from cussing (and getting cussed) at one shop to shaking hands and thanking another pro shop in a little more than an hour.

Sorry to hear about your horrible experience with that proshop. I'm glad you were able to find a good one that was able to treat you right. I had the same situation a few years back. Bought two bows from the place and both times I never got set-up correctly. First time I bought a bow I was with my dad and was too little to know anything. Second time I bought one they didn't even check my draw length or anything. Went into the shop I'm sitting in right now and they set me up correctly with no problem. Now I'm an everyday customer/helper.

unfortunately, there are good pro shops and bad pro shops. sometimes its tough to find the right one, but when you do, send them as much buisness as you can.

a really good pro shop is a thing to be cherished. if you dont, one day you might wake up and find your shop is closed.

sorry you had a bad experience, but glad you found a good shop.:)

That stinks Rem!

I wonder if RT could put a sticky or something about Pro shops around the country that the RT members have had good experiences with. (Probably best not to list the bad)?Perhaps it could be arranged by state or something?

I know I love my shop in Maryville IL. TimBuckTu Outdoors!
