Poor little fella!

Poor little fellow was under my truck when I came out of Radio Shack. I almost left him there but he was so tiny, I figured no way he was gonna make it. So I very carefully picked him up, put him on this old sheet I had in the truck and he went for a ride with me in air conditioned comfort. Took him to our vet who contacted Wildlife rescue. He still might not make it but his chances are better than zero now.

At the vet's I ran into my pastor. Told him why I was there. He'd made a trip there last year doing a squirrel rescue himself. I don't think any of this was a coincidence. Every now and then God reminds you he's watching.

This is the scrawniest baby squirrel I've ever seen.

I hope the poor little guy makes it. He sure acts like he wants to.

The wildlife rescue unit has him now. They've handled orphan squirrels before. His odds are much better with them.

Leo has this exactly right. Best thing to do is to take them in if any way possible, if they will accept them, those people should be better equipped to help those critters. Here the animal rescue folks are volunteers, and it is not legal to keep wildlife(including squirrels) here.

I think I'm in love...

That little guy is sooooo cute!! I love squirrels, and I am so glad you rescued him. I sure hope he makes it and that he has a liong happy life in the wild after they release him and that he makes lots and lots of baby squirrels. I rescued a small fox squirrel myself about two years ago. He was blown out of the nest by a wicked storm along with 2 of his siblings. One was dead on the ground when I walked up to the scene, his sister only survived a couple of hours in the little nest I bult for them, in a box filled with rags and old towels. But this little guy was a trooper. I fed him milk mixed with dried baby food out of an eye dropper for two days until he regained enough strength to climb back up the mighty oak he fell out of. His mom was waiting for him in the tree top. It was a bitter sweet moment as I really grew attached to the little guy.
