ParsonsOutdoors
Well, I bought the wood for it anyway and started cutting. The board was a Red Oak 1 x 3. I took these pictures this evening, but just got done staining it witha a mixture of Walnut and Red Mahogany (11pm Wednesday evening). The finished poundage "feels" somewhere around the low 50's for draw weight. Lower than I wanted, but it'll do. It shoots like a dream, so I may do some hunting with it this year. The wood added to the handle for thickness is Zebrawood. Handle detail.

redkneck
You kill a deer with that thing, and you'll be a man in my book. Nothing more challenging than actually making your own bow and then killing something with it.

Second was a big ole fat slickhead.

ShortDraw
Nice board bow, i've built a few of those. 50# is actually pretty good out of one, it's hard to get one to tiller out at more than 45. One suggestion however, back the bow with something, I usually use fiberglass sheetrock tape. It will add more strength, and possibly a few pounds too. great job! I ran two layers of the tape and smoothed it with Elmer's Pro Bond glue. Another layer probably wouldn't have hurt, but two is all I did. I'll post a picture of it after I finish my "paintjob" for the backing.

GWSmith
This is one of those times when Art meeting the sport of Bowhunting is never more apparent IMHO. To be able to turn a stick into such a Beautiful Creation that is also functional....that my friends is the definition of Art.

ParsonsOutdoors
I guess I forgot to add some of the almost finished pics. I'm still giving the back some finishing touches, so they'll come later.
