Leo Posted August 30, 2009 Report Share Posted August 30, 2009 I'm still using XX78 2315's why fix it if it ain't broke. I used those exact spine arrows for over 10 years. Heavy arrow really good penetration. They fly great as long as the don't get bent. I found they would loose some of their straightness over time after repeatedly being shot into a target (especially bag targets). Not enough to look bad or be dangerous but enough to affect group size. When I used those I would set aside half of a dozen for practice and save the other half for hunting only. (The most accurate shafts went for hunting) I was very happy with these arrows and likely would have never changed if I hadn't got hurt in 2003. When I got hurt I had dislocated both shoulders. It took almost a year of physical therapy just to pull a weak bow back. I had to turn the bow poundage way down. The 2315s were severely overspined at that point. I had to get new arrows. Carbons were the most logical choice. I could get 1 dz BassPro Carbon Furies cut and fletched for $50. The spine range on carbons is much broader than aluminum shafts. I had plenty of adjustment range to increase poundage as I healed and not have to change arrow spine. Aluminum arrows are more finicky about spine than carbons. I was forced into the change but overall it's been a good thing. I doubt I'll be switching back to aluminum shafts. I did have to change from 100gr broadheads to 125gr broadheads to get the best performance out of my carbons. Carbons will work with the same FOCs as Aluminums but IME they perform much better at higher between 10 to 12% Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
