Heavy Metal
What do you wear in extreme cold weather when deer hunting. That time for me is mid December in Muzzle Loading season. My personal favorite time for hunting. I like being out in the cold. Growing up in Nor-Cal it's something I never experienced much of. So for me to be out in single digits or below zero is just awesome. People say that will go away, LOL! But...after suffering through my first two winters using $30 ski jackets from Walmart I finally did a ton of research and found a jacket in my price range that I just think the world of. It's an Alpha N-3B Parka. I found Alpha by first trying to find an American made jacket. Their "true" pilot cold weather models are made in the USA. However the N-3B is an import made in China. Go figure.... This coat cost me around $100 dollars. My wife helped me make a camo poncho to pull over it when I hunt since its a black parka. I was so comfortable last year I can't wait to get it back out this season! Yes, Alpha supplies these and their other coats to the military. The tag shows the patents and military contract numbers. I figure, if this is the standard issue for our soldiers in extreme cold climates...it's good enough for me. And there's no way in he!! I'm ever paying $200-$500 for some camo hunting Parka.....least ways not in the next 10 years! What do you guys wear?
Rhino
For extreme cold I wear a Browning Hydrofleece jacket. I don't get to use it much at all here in MS since we don't get very many days at all when the temp is below 20. Maybe once in every 10 years or so does the temp get below 10. I sure got good use out of it last year bowhunting in Kansas during a couple of very windy days with the temp in the low teens.
wtnhunt
Don't really get extreme cold here, but I wear a cabelas super slam elite fleece parka and matching bibs with thinsulate lining. When we do get unusually cold weather I add on extra layers. Got a new parka for this year back at the end of last season on clearance. Had been using a 3 in 1 parka that is also super slam elite fleece, liner on it was also thinsulate lined.
craig mack
I wear a Cabelas MT50. Its waterproof and also has scent lok. I also wear a gore wind stopper (shirt and pants) underneath my camos. Works for me in the U.P. in November.
Missed160
I wear a cabelas 200 gram thinsulate parka. I wore is in Manitoba last year at -0 temps, layered beneath it, and was never cold..
HUNTINGMAN
I've never wanted to spend hundreds of dollers on cold weather gear although I would like to have some. I just put on layers of good long johns, blue jeans and t shirt,a layer of fleece from old navy, ant the tried and true camp insulated coveralls. I allways have a wall mart rain suit or poncho with me just incase it gets wet out.

redkneck
Last year opening day of gun season was 19. I was ok with some coveralls and maybe an extra layer in there somewhere. That was probably the coldest day of the year. Just don't have enough cold days here to buy the good stuff.
Shaun_300
Here's what I use, for the life of me I can't remember the name. I got it from TSC a couple years back and got matching pants from Le Baron. It is really warm, I wear it in late bow season, rifle season depending on temperature, sometimes we have morning temps around 5F in early november. Usually late bow season its well below 0 and I'll throw another coat underneath that with a few layers underneath that even! Also wear it ice fishing like I am in this pic. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I really don't get to cold. I wear some bibs, with usually just either shorts or some thermals under. For a coat, it's just a simple $30 camo coat from dicks sports. It isn't very heavy but it is comfy. I wear my thermal shirt, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt. then put my coat on. If I am in a blind, the coat comes off when I get theresince I have a heater. In a stand I leave it on though.
Rem308
My coldest hunt last season was a 6 degrees-below-0 squirrel hunt...I layered HEAVY and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I found that adding 'Under Armor Cold Gear' to the mix really helped. Also, being smart and not letting hands or anything be exposed for too long helps...see my bare hands holding the barrel of my rifle...not smart! WHISKEYSWAMP
I bought the Arctic Shield outfit this past spring... had a good sale on the parka and bibs, http://www.deergear.com/products.asp?dept=109... I'll find out in a few months if their guarantee of never getting cold is true or not.
Stinger-Hunter
What I wear in really cold weather. That Warm bag looks pretty cool - they thought of the hunter for sure. Nice features. Here is what I wear - UnderArmour cold weather top, medium weight Wool sweater i got from ireland (really warm), then perhaps a duck jacket and the top from my overall collection. Bottoms - long johns - heavy weight realtree pants, overall bibs. Two pair of hybrid socks - glove inserts with larger glovers and one of those camo hand warmer deals that people use to watch football games at the stadium. Last year I also wore a russian winter hat (it was blue) and then put my orange hat over it. I was toasty.. :-)

We hunt near Danville every year, were not that far apart. Good luck this season.

I hunt very near you. I usually go down to some private land just south of you and then in some undisclosed locations in Indiana. I'm from St. John. Chrud
I really don't dress that warm. I hate heavy clothing. The cold doesn't bother me. It is the wind that is killer. I've found that I have my best luck with a wind resistant/blocker type lighter weight jacket or vest (I have a Gander Mountain fleece jacket and vest). I am probably going to look at Under Armour's line of outerwear when I need a new "cold" jacket. I've had great luck with their "Cold Gear" products and their cold weather jackets seem to be pretty lightweight.

Take a look and see if it might work for you.
