stevebeilgard Posted August 21, 2009 Report Share Posted August 21, 2009 an elderly country preacher had a son, who's old enough that he should be thinking about what he'd like to do with his life. but like most his age, he really hadn't planned much. one day, while his son was at school, the preacher had an idea. he placed 4 objects in his son's room, where his son was sure to see them. 1) a bible 2) a silver dollar 3) a bottle of whisky 4) a copy of playboy magazine i'll hide in the closet, the preacher thought, and i'll see what object he picks up. if it's the bible he'll be a minister like me, and what a blessing that will be. if he picks up the dollar he'll be a businessman, and that won't be so bad. but if he picks up the whiskey, he'll amount to noting more than a drunk. and if he picks up the playboy he'll just be a skirt chasing womanizer. lord, what a shame that would be. as planned, the old man was in the closet when his son came home. he tossed the books on his bed, and the objects caught his eye. he walked on over to them, and thought for a second. he then picked up the bible and put it under his arm, and the old man smiled. but then, his son picked up the dollar and put it into his pocket. then, he guzzled down the whiskey as he admired the centerfold.
