If you leave the back windows open and light gets through wear camo but it you are completely agaist the black back of your blind meaning you are only shooting out of the sides and front wear black. dartonman
I think black is correct if thats where you intend to be for the day...I would carry a bag with other camo if you move, but black facemask and black uppers is what I see to work with mine......and best results for sure with only the front window open....any more, and its defeating the purpose of stealth, unless you have camo mesh over the windows............I only open the front window.........al
The Kid
a dark background bothers deer not turkeys ( its called the black hole effect) so if you can help it the shoot through netting helps,, with the netting the camo works best.. RangerClay
a dark background bothers deer not turkeys ( its called the black hole effect) so if you can help it the shoot through netting helps,, with the netting the camo works best.. I have used the pop-up blind for 2 years. The first year I got the black hole effect big time. Last year prior to deer season I left the front window open 24/7 so the deer would get used to seeing it and it worked great! On opening day I had 18 deer walk past my blind within 20 yards and not one of them looked my way. Thanks everyone. Looks like black is the way to go. Now I have to find someone who sells black facemasks for bowhunting. Any suggestions?
GWSmith
You could make a black facemask easy enough with a regular black t-shirt for the warmer weather days. A black ski-mask would also be easy to find too. I personally could never get used to having the full facemask so I did a little reverse engineering. I took a couple knit hats and cut one of them along the stitches on the top. Turned it upside down and pulled it over my face and used it like a neck gaiter. Then I just used the other in the regular fashion and adjusted the neck gaiter to do the camoflauge of the lower face or as the temps required it. Tom2008
I have only worn camo in the blind. I killed my first deer with camo on out of a homemade blind. This year I shot my turkey at 20 yards wearing camo in my blind.

buckee
I wear my Realtree always
Hoytguy
I wear my Realtree always I'm with ya Steve. I have my blind brushed in and leave my windows down all the time. My roof flap is half open even. There is different ways to hunt out of a blind though.
RangerClay
I wear my Realtree always Yeah but but don't you make your own blind Steve? I'm talking about pop-ups here?
Rhino
Yeah but but don't you make your own blind Steve? That's what I was thinking too. When hunting out of natural blinds I match my camo to whatever I'm using to brush the blind that also blends into whatever is still growing within my brushed blind area. BTW, some coats, etc. are lined in black on the inside. By reversing them (wearing them inside out) you're covered on blending in with the inside of your blind. On days when it is chilly, but still to warm for a coat, I'll just wear a black or dark green sweatshirt.
jakeleg
black sweat shirt This year for Turkey hunting I went to a black sweatshirt and hat. Worked great killed 2 turkeys within about 20 yards. Don't know yet for deer but will find out this year, broke my ankle 4 weeks ago and won't be able to climb a tree this year. Stinger-Hunter
I never would have thought to wear black inside a pop up blind - thanks for the great info.
