Last year we had almost 200 contestants, right now we are setting at 149. You have until Sept. 1 to sign up. Stop procrastinating and get it done. Crops were even later getting out this year and I didn't get to the woods till November 13 last year. Would hate to drag my team mates down by not being able to go. The contest isn't about winning IMO, it is about the camaraderie. I don't always kill a deer either, but I have fun participating in the contest and just talking to my teammates and learning about where they hunt and listening to their stories for that day or week. I didn't get out to much last year either, I got out maybe a handful of times during the early bow season, and for a week during gun season (Nov. 15th opener) and then maybe another handful of times in the late bow season. I say join, participate in your teams discussions and make some new friends. Like I said, it isn't about winning, the team I was on won it last year, and there were no prizes, but I don't think any of us cared because we had a great time.
