how much is too much

The land that I primarily hunt on is about 55 acres, half of it is timber and the other half is prairie. The land owner has trails through the prairie and they have a wagon that they pull with a Kubota RTV and give prairie rides. Does anyone think this bothers deer? I try not to mess around in the woods a hole lot. I get my stands up and things ready and then pretty much stay out. Some people tell me that the deer are probably use to the kubota noise and that shouldn't bother them? Anyone have any thoughts?

Don't think that's much of a concern. Maybe not desirable, but not a show-stopper. I think what deer mostly dislike is change. Routine noise-makers like the Kubota shouldn't be an issue with most of your deer. What I worry about in cases like yours is the new buck that's trailing through the area during the rut when your buddy comes sailing through. That's going to be an issue!

So on these "prairie rides", I'm thinking that kids and even adults are not just riding, but are probably occasionally a bit loud with talking and laughing and such. I'm sure the drone of the Kubota doesn't bother the deer a whole lot, or at least that's what I have noticed about deer that live in farming areas. However, human voices approaching are often a whole different matter.

They do get used to them but I've seen them change their patterns because of them. The people that have a cabin across the road from mine ride ATV's all the time and I've watched deer coming thru my property stop to look over across the road at their cabin. They've also noticed a decline in deer sightings on their property in recent years...mine have increased

I hunted in SE Ohio and I was amazed at how deer became used human traffic on small farms with 4 wheelers, tractors etc. They seemed to be aware; but did not spook until people got off the vehicles.

I saw a large doe through a patch of woods. She thought I could not see her and remained still even when I came within 20 yards(I was on a 4 wheeler). She was absolutely fine until I got off the 4 wheeler; then she bolted. She never would have spooked if I would have kept going.

A 130 class buck did a similar thing. I rode by him in a thicket 3 times and did not know he was there. Not until I stopped did he get up and bolt. He was fine as long as he kept moving. I learned a lot in my first year hunting on small farms.
