johnf
We live in town and have some skunks hanging around the house all the time. Last night my wife went out the garage to her car and when she started back into the house there was a skunk in our garage about a foot from our open back door. She ran out and told my son to shut the door and go get me. When I got there the skunk was already gone. They've been eating our dog food so I was thinking about putting a pile of dog food about 20 feet from the house where our flood lights will shine on it and shooting it from the roof with my bow. Am I crazy? Not a general question, just one on this particular scenario.

Straight Shooter
Shot a couple of them with my bow. Just plan on getting rid of the arrow afterwards. I was having problems with them in a area I was hunting, these little boogers were everywhere and standing on their front legs with their hind-quarters in the air aiming at me. I took aim first and let them have it.

MichiganHunter
better off hitting him with a pellet gun and scaring him away.
rhine16
I've shot one.... Right between the eyes with no spray. Threw a rope around my arrow and took it off on the 4 wheeler.
redkneck
Wouldn't waste an arrow on one. Better off with a .22 in the guts and hope he runs waaaaaaaay off to die.
Jeramie
1200fps pellet gun. I wouldnt shoot one with a bow. That could be bad, very bad. I have however shot a coon with a bow.
Ethan Givan
Never shot one with a bow...but I have with a .22 without it spraying. If you get a double lung hit with a rifle, they wont spray.
Stinger-Hunter
Never done it, but it would be funny.
Randyman
In 35 years of running the woods, I can count on 1 hand the number of Skunks I have seen during the daylight hours. Can't think of any reason to kill one.

swohiodave
Use a .22 pellet gun and make it count.
HUNTINGMAN
I shot one in the back yard about a month ago with my bow,I went in and got an old arrow and when he came to eat scraps in the shine of the porch light,I let him have it. He flipped in the air a few times and hobbled off up through the woods, I killed him for I could smell him for about a week after.I am going for the rest of his family next. RangerClay
Call me crazy but how about moving the dog food inside and letting the skunks move on somewhere else. I used to be a NYS DEC Nuisance Wildlife Control Officer for over 10 years. I solved 90% of nuisance critter problems by removing what brought them around....FOOD! HUNTINGMAN
Arent skunks one of the worst carriers of raibbies. I will keep thinning them down around my home.
johnf
Was the garage door open? She opened it to go out to her car. The thing ran in while she was in the car. We keep our trash cans in the garage to keep the critters out of it before trash day.
