Norm Sauceman
Big Boot Down, that is....My 12D had a blowout on the second day and I had nothing to repair it with. Finally on the sixth day I found some twine and sinched it up. We are still 0 for count but the game has been acting differently since they had a slight drought just before we came. Saw a couple of mature shooter bears but even I, Quigly Jr. can't feel comfortable with a 1000 yard shot on a #350 bear(big size for the specific area we were at. Seems most of the mature bears we spot are way up past the tree line out of range of this old cripple...sure wish I would have had another chance before my accident... Life just seems to pass us by as we continue to put off things for another day. I sure am thankful for Terry and Kathleen for opening up their lives and home for us RealTree folks. Wish we had some bagged animals to claim but if if is any consolation, I have already tallied my kill count to over 13,000 fly, gnat and mosquito kills. I even ate some for survival or by mistake...I could not tell, I was living off my fat belly reserves and was totally confused. I think I have gleaned enough protein off of them that I may have added a pound or two. This sure is awesome country and at time a bit overwhelming for me and Too_pointer because we just can't get to where the big boys are. We both decided we would not just shoot a bear for the sake of shooting one, we wanted to make you all proud. but then again, these dudes must know we are here, they just do not want to come down to our level. This country would be a challenge for an able-bodies person, not to mention us who are mobility impaired. I also wanted to thank the folks who contributed to this adventure on my behalf. You never cease to amaze me with your kindness and grace. Thanks again for all you have done. Norm By the way, Here is a pic of my BBD... hammerforged
Norm - sorry for the difficulties you are experiencing but it sounds like a good time is being had by all despite the circumstances. Know that I and all the members here are with you in spirit and are praying for a successful harvest by all.

Leo
Ironically I sacrificed a pair of boots while I was in Alaska myself. The sole of them split through to the inside. Kathleen found a pair of Xtra Tuff's in town that were my size and on clearance for 50% off. God was looking out for me. Beautiful but tough country you're in right now. Sounds like even through adversity you're having a great time. I'm very happy for you!

wtnhunt
LOL, BBD, that is pretty funny Norm. Glad to hear from you buddy and good to hear you are having a good time. Apparently the la crosse waterproof boots my daughter is wearing have had some issues too. Heard she is wearing ziploc bags over her socks inside her boots to keep her feet dry, improvise I guess. Gotta agree with what has been posted above, living this hunt vicariously through you all. I hope to see a crap load of pics this Sunday afternoon.
