Summit Goliath

Hey fellas I'm thinking about picking up my first climber...used a friends cheap one last year and had to drop down the last 6' coming out of the tree due to the seat falling out from under me (poor design, old stand, lessons learned)...

I know I want a Summit and I want the extra room and stability. I'm pretty set on getting a Goliath (basically a Viper expanded a few inches and +50 lb rating).

Anyone have any experience with them?

Main thing I'm interested in is the time and noise level to set up on the tree after walking it in? Easy to do in the dark with a good flashlight?

Appreciate any info. Thanks.

I own one and love it! I too wanted the extra room, mostly for when the extra heavy clothing is needed. Regardless of what stand you buy, practice is the key for setting it up in the dark! I also added the footrest. It really does take the pressure off the back of the thighs on long sits. I also got the deluxe backpack straps, and moved them down one rung from where the DVD tells you to install them. Reason, it keeps the climber up higher on your back! Away from the back of your legs and feet. Like when stepping over a fallen tree!;) The deluxe straps are a must if you plan any long hikes in! Would I buy another, you bet!!!

Thanks, how about shooting a gun off of the climbing bar? Would it be worth buying the $40 gun rail? Have shots from 10 yards in the woods to 200 yards if I sit in a field.

My local store carries the footrests, I will sit a few times and if I need it I'll pick one up.

Don't have that model stand, but don't think you could go wrong with a summit.

Welcome to the forums.

take a look at the 180 you can sit and cross your legs in this stand the only bad thing about a summit the weight they say it weight is with nothing on it my 180 weight 25 pounds with seat gun rack bow holder foot rest
