Springfield XD sub compact, Carry & Fun

Recommended Posts

Ok so yall were really helpfull when I bought my ruger super blackhawk. I'm basically hooked on shooting now and am really considering another gun the springfield xd. I have wanted a concealed carry gun and thought I could get the mix of a fun to shoot carry weapon. My requirements for a carry weapon are, knock down power and small. So I was thinking the xd sub compact in .40cal The 9mm in nice with it's large mag but i like the K.O. of the .40.

SO I guess what I'm trying to get at. Any one own the XD in any form, the Sub Compact would be nice to hear about. And anyone have a Concealed carry in .40 with pros or cons, or a 9mm that wants to try to change my mind from 40 to 9

I've got the XD-m in 9mm. Holds 20 if you Barney up. Shoots extremely well with the match barrel but still not as accurate as my SIG. It has lots of serrations on it and comes clean from a plastic holster but tends to drag being drawn from leather. I have large hands and my thumb tends to hit the slide release/lock and lock the action open sometimes when I shoot. It needs to be smaller and not so conveninent. I'll bob mine off if I carry it for self defense. The trigger was gritty and needed some polishing. It also is a long pull. Not short and crisp like a single action. I've shot some good IPSC scores with it and really like it overall. Especially for the money. Good rugged service pistol. The 9mm is a good self defense load in 147 grain offerings. Shoot high thorax or head. The 40 or 45 is best to stop someone with a body hit. It's easier to explain to the jury than why your first shot hit him dead between the eyes.
