swohiodave
I get the willies from time to time while walking in the dark. One morning I crested a hill to find the farmers bull eye to eye with me. I could see his breath in the beam of my flashlight. Luckily he was laying down and I just backed up and walked the other way and he didnt bother moving.

Alisha
I have gotten the biggest tickle out of this thread! I would have to say that the thing I'm most afraid of when walking through the woods during early season is walking through spider webs and imagining that huge spider crawling all over me and not knowing it. I'm surprised nobody mentioned sitting in complete darkness and having a deer blow while really close to you. That's had my heart racing a time or two before. :clown:
Turkeygirl
I will say there's been a few times where the shadows in the woods from stumps and what not have freaked me out...my heart sticks in my throatd and I freeze until I put my flahslight on,lol! In the back of my mind there is always that coyote sneaking up through the woods after me:-p Usually turkey season is the worst for me when I'm trying to sneak up on a roosted gobbler in the pitch dark...creepy.. Illinois59
What a great thread! Busting deer very close to me always scares the ... Getting blown on very close while I'm half asleep in my stand! I always wear the headlamp for my protection. Don't need somebody taking a shot at me. :ninja:
rad_112176
When hunting 3 years ago in Southern Illinois i saw one of the biggest cougars / mountain lions, which ever you want to call them in these parts, when i was deer hunting. I can still picture him plain as day and it took me a little while to not think of him stalking me while i was walking to my stand in the dark. LOL. There was a picture floating around about a huge one killed, don't remember how, close to the area where i hunted last year. A few of my friends were laughing about it thinking there was no way. I told them about my story and come to find out it was actually true. Hope this don't put one more thing in your mind to think about. mikewink
All this being scared stuff reminds me of a hunt I had two years ago. Every once in a while I'll pull my old Ghillie suit out, grab my bow and try and put a stalk on a deer. It is a rush trying to sneak thru the woods and stick a deer. Well I saw a doe feeding about 60 yards away. And began the stalk. I circled to the upwind side of her and was with in 30 yards from her when I heard that dreaded foot stomp. I failed to see the other doe 60 yards to my downwind side. Now I was between the two does. Frozen, in mid-stride. That doe did the head bob thing, and step by slow step, made her way right at that green moving stump. When she got with in about 15 yards of me, which seemed like it took an hour and a half. I did the only thing that I could think of. I jumped up in the air and yelled BBOOOO!!! That doe about came out of her skin! She jumped about 8 feet straight up in the air. And hit the ground running. She took off like a bat out of **** :bat: She blew for about a half and hour. I laughed the whole way back to the house. Every once in a while I think about going out and doing that again. Just for the fun of it. You guys should try it sometime.

SwampDawg
I get creeped out sometimes, but my Dad always told me, whatever is there when its dark, is there when its light. That always eases the tension.
