Stone Cold
We did our draft tonight and I was hurting on tight ends. Why they went so fast I am not sure but I saw them go fast then decided to take another good QB. I got Manning from Indi as my starter and Romo from Dallas as my backup. I picked up Shockey from New Orleans and Carlson from Seattle. So I got a trade from a guy who needed a QB. The trade goes like this....... QB Romo-Dallas TE Shockey-New Orleans For QB Hasselbeck-Seattle TE Gates-San Diego Was this a good trade for me or the other guy?
SchuLace
Personally, I think it was better for the other guy. Romo is a proven qb, yes he hasn't won a playoff game but I think he is better than Hasselback. I also think Shockey is better than Gates. Gates is very good but I don't think the trade would be in your favor. IMHO
muggs
Since you already have Manning I like the deal for you. I guess with how good that Saints offense is, you really never know if Shockey is going to have a breakout year or not, but he usually disappoints and Gates is a stud TE. If he can stay healthy, Hasselbeck should have a decent year too- and if you only need him as a backup he should be more than fine.
Stone Cold
I am only planning on using Hasselbeck for my bye week at the QB spot. I like Gates a whole lot better than Shockey. Shockey has a staying healthy problem that I dont want to deal with this year. I had issues last year and boy that was a pain.
Zero
I would have stood firm...between Carlson and Shockey you would have had a solid starter, could have upgraded big time at RB or WR depending on your roster.

Romo, yes he's a proven QB, but he has more issues on his mind than football. Shockey had maybe a good year 1/2 under his belt. He's got a bad attitude and I doubt he'll be around much longer. Gates is a proven TE and he's a huge target. Phillips has a big arm and throws it a lot. Hasselbeck is a new and improved QB, he has took his team to the SuperBowl once already. He knows how to win and with T.J. Houshmandzadeh on the team, Hasselbeck should have a career year in Seattle. I personally wouldn't take that trade. Pray that he doesn't know football. Stone Cold
The trade is final! He took trade and I was glad to up Romo for Gates! That was the main thing I was trying to do. The others where just so we did not have to ajust roster. You have to have one of each position plus one extra of choice on bench.

You stole everything from him including the kitchen sink :clown:
