wtnhunt
The girls were supposed to be on a plane last night at 11:15 Anchorage time, their plane got delayed for mechanical issues and they ended up being an hour and forty minutes late on departure. Plane is 37,000 feet over Saskatchewan right now. Catrina does not know yet that she will never make her connection, hopefully she gets my text so she does not panic trying to race from one end of Ohare to the other. There is no way they are going to make their connecting flight in Chicago, even if they did I just talked with the airline and she told me there was no way the bags would make it. So that puts them on the next flight which is not until later this afternoon. That means instead of getting home a little after lunch we will be getting home kind of late. Bet they are going to be tired. Guess on the bright side we will miss lunch/church traffic in Memphis.
mike
I bet your excited to see them William. Hope you all have a safe trip both flying and driving.
wtnhunt
Yep, cannot wait to see them Mike, this has been longest time in the 16 years we have been together that the wife and I have ever been apart. Looks like we got it all worked out where they will not have to wait for the late afternoon flight. We got them on a different airline(delta), but it gets in much earlier than the flight that they were initially telling me they would be put on. Hopefully we will be home mid afternoon. Tominator
The airline world certainly is an inefficient industry in some respects. Hope it's not too late William.
stevebeilgard
things happen. sorry that they'll be late but i see safety first. fix whatever needs fixing while on the ground.
wtnhunt
yep, safety first for sure things happen. sorry that they'll be late but i see safety first. fix whatever needs fixing while on the ground. Absoultely agree with you Steve. They ended up on an entirely different plane from Anchorage. Just unfortunate that they were stuck waiting in the airport in the middle of the night, but it happens all the time. Thankfully it looks like we have things worked out so they will not have to wait until late this afternoon to fly out of O'hare and they should get into Memphis around 1 putting us getting home around 3. That is much better than getting home after 8. I just hope Catrina was able to get some rest on the plane and is not stressing out over making her connecting flight. They should be landing soon, looking at the flight tracking they are on their descent now, and she should get the messages I sent her before they get off the plane. buckee
I'm sorry to hear that William. I hope they don't have too much trouble catching their new flight, and getting their baggage also. It's little hick-ups like that, that put the baggage on the wrong flights. It will all work out in the end. Just be glad they are on their way home bud. wtnhunt
Catrina got lost in Ohare, they almost did not find their way. They passed the terminal they needed to go to and ended up on the other side of the airport. Fortunately I found a map of Ohare online and was able to talk her through getting to the right terminal and gate over the phone. Someone at the airport sent her to the wrong terminal and gate, her boarding pass they gave her for the rebook flight did not have the correct flight number for the northwest/delta flight or any gate information printed on it at all. Catrina was extremely tired as she never slept worrying all the way about making her connection. I'm sorry to hear that William. I hope they don't have too much trouble catching their new flight, and getting their baggage also. It's little hick-ups like that, that put the baggage on the wrong flights. It will all work out in the end. Just be glad they are on their way home bud. We are home now, been home about an hour and a half, had to look at some pics. My gun and the girls checked bag are missing/lost, they did not go on the plane the girls flew in on. Kind of figured there would be issues with the bags, but we are home. The airline seems to think they should find them and get them delivered to us tonight though.

Shaun_300
Bet you'll be glad to see them William! I have to check out that thread and see how everyone did! Too bad about the delays though, that's gotta be energy draining! I only flew once and luckily both ways my connecting flights were only a couple gates away from each other at Pearson airport in Toronto. fly
Glad your family is home safe William. I've been to Ohare several times and it's NOT the place to get bad directions at. Glad Catrina was able to make her connection.

wtnhunt
Glad your family is home safe William. I've been to Ohare several times and it's NOT the place to get bad directions at. Glad Catrina was able to make her connection. The tickets they gave them as they got off the Alaska Air flight had a delta flight number 3512 and had no gate info. She asked some security people and she said they were no help at all. They went to terminal 3 for delta, the flight they were supposed to be on was a northwest/delta flight at terminal 2. They were looking at monitors for the flight and could not find it, they were lost and it was not their fault at all. Poor Catrina after not getting any sleep and being worried the entire time they were in the air from Anchorage about timing was having a panic attack when I talked to her. Luckily I had found the flight online by looking at the time and information I knew, it was flight 3548 that they should have been getting on. There apparently was not even a flight 3512, but she has the tickets I saw them myself. Just glad that I was able to help get them where they needed to be in time for them to get settled down and get on their plane ok and all worked out ok. Still don't understand why they gave her tickets with wrong information. The bags did eventually get here. They had 2 bags when they showed up after 9 last night, one was ours one was not. NO GUN case when the guy showed up. Was a bit concerning when the guy called in to the delievery service office and they told him my rifle was on its way to Clarksdale MS to the guy who's bag they had with the girls bag. Soooo, he had to call the other driver and tell him not to give my gun to this other delivery, the gun got here around 1:30 this morning. After this return trip home experience, Catrina has informed me she is never flying again.
KirkV
Whaaaattttt?????? Never flying again?????? LOL I feel the frustration and am truly sorry she had to go through all of that William. I slept that night in Anchorage and got up the next morning and attacked it with a fresh mind and body lol. All of my flights were on time with the 4 1/2 hour layover in Chicago that is. I made it home around 11:00 with both of my bags though. Yeah! I am still draggin some serious butt today and the 3 hour time zone part does not help either. Glad they made it home safe. Kirk Weeeell, I might fly again..........as long as I have my hubby on the phone to keep me together.......lol It was kinda frustrating in Ohare and there were so many people going in every direction. That place is insane. Yeah Kirk, my butt is kinda dragging too. I was just glad we ate a big supper the night before, cause we didn't eat anything until we got home Sunday afternoon. I had to get back to work today but plan on trying to get some pics and updates on here by this weekend. I will say that despite everything, I had the time of my life on this hunt. I couldn't have picked a better group of people to share it with either. A HUGE thanks to Kathleen and Terry for opening their home to us and making us feel so welcome. BTW, Kathleen, send another huge thank you to Mike Little for all of the wonderful food.
ruttinbuc
Sorry to hear you had a hard time getting back, Catrina. It is quite a long flight to start and any delay has to be nerve racking. Good thing William had sense enough to get you through the airport from the computer at home. You would think these airlines had there act together by now. Yes, it was a wonderful time together here. Kathleen and Terry are certainly special people as is Mike Little for doing all he did here. Not just the fabulous cooking, but all of his help in caring for the children while at the same time doing what he could to meet our every need.
