Went to the range!

I went to the range this morning with a good friend to shoot a little bit. As we drove in, we were greeted with this site:

This Copperhead was about 3' long, reminded me to be careful when setting and checking targets!

We started shooting at 100 yards and made sure the rifles were still on, which they were:

I absolutely love my Remington 700 SPS-V chambered in .308.

I shot several good tight groups, all of which were with Federal factory deer loads. I ended up adjusting it to 2" high at 100 yards.

Rem308, great job shooting and a nice copperhead to boot.

Gotta love those SPS V's. I have one in 308 Win also. It came out of the box shooting. Decided to cut the 26 inch barrel down to 20" and recrown, added a bigger bolt knob and did a digital paint job on it.

Shot this sub 2" 5 shot group at 400 yards Saturday with a 168 gr Amax and R15 handload off the bipod.

I just love me some 308 Winchester. My only regret is not catching the bug 30 years ago. Bought a Savage 10fp today to play with, hope it shoots as well as my other 308's.Hopefully I'll get to work up some loads for it tomorrow.

I have thought and thought and thought about getting into reloading, but each time I get serious about it I talk myself out.

I need to just make the leap! Sounds like a lot of fun experimenting and finding what my rifles like.

It can be very rewarding!

Rem308, my father started me handloading when I was 12 and I grew up doing it. That was 36 years ago and am sure I have quite a bit invested in my equipment and supplies but know that I could not afford to shoot the way I do if I only shot factory loads.

You will not really save any money doing so but you are rewarded by getting to shoot alot more and having the satisfaction of making your own ammunition. The other thing is that you can taylor your loads to your firearms and even make stuff that is not available over the counter.

Handloading has meant alot to me and others, it's a good thing to do to share time and experinces with others such a friend, spouse or child.

In these days and times, components such as primers and powders can be hard to find but dont let get you down, things will get better. Like everything in this world , prices seem to continually rise.

Just a reminder, Christmas isnt that far away, no time like the present to get a "wish" list going!

Hungry Hunter, I did the digital myself with Krylon and stencils. That Rem did have a 26" bbl but I cut it down to 20".

Here's a new savage I got last week. It will most likely get's it's barrel bobbed back to 20-21inches and paint too. It hasnt shown any accuracy yet, though I will continue to work with it. Just skim bedded the aluminum "V" block, hopefully that will help.
