bghunter777
I finally got a stand up that i have been wanting to place for a long time. it is by far my highest set up ever though. I just did not like the way it looked at the top of my summit stick which is 17 feet but the only other place that was realistic was about 10 ft higher. In the screw in steps went and with the help of some limbs "that are very secure limbs its a big old pine tree" I was able to squeeze a stand in. Other than maybe a terrible wind I dont think its possible to get detected and being a pine tree that will help with scent control along w my scent lok. Oh yeah there are deer there too that always helps already a scrape that is active, along with past season knowlege of this area being tore up with rubs in about a 2 months from now. This should be productive.
bowhuntMN
hope it works out for you! i know it'd be tough for me to climb up that high. about 27 ft did you say? i suppose as long as its within your comfort zone and complient with state laws then go for it and best of luck! OUTSIDER
The majoity of my stands are 30 foot high or so. I like to get up as far as needed so i can get away with a bit more movement and such. Thank god for a good harness!!!

I used to have a 25 foot pull cord on my stand but a few years I bumped up to a 35 rope cause moving up higher I could get away with more, less scent close to the ground, and I have more opening to shoot thru being up higher. Turkeygirl
Where your safety harness that's for sure! Our highest stand is maybe 15-20 feet....otherwise a stand I hunt in, my old faithful, that I've gotten a deer from or 2 every year is maybe 10-12 feet off the ground..... Ethan Givan
All of our stands are between 15 and 20 feet. I like to be around that height. Any lower and I feel like the deer can see me, and any higher then I find it hard to get shots because of limbs and stuff.
fly
I love extreme height bow hunting. Last year a plane knocked my hat off.:clown: I try to go 30 feet, but it's tough to get that high all the time. Sometimes I settle for 25 feet. Tom2008
I know exactly what you mean. I'm used to being about 17 to 20 feet up. This year with the terrain the stand had to go higher. I'm at about 25+ feet up, but it sure is a great view. Definately the best stand location I've ever set-up in. Can't wait to hunt it September 19. Stinger-Hunter
You guys are braver than I am. I go 15 feet at the highest. Maybe not always the best for deer, but I've only been sighted (that I know of) a few times. One time lightning began to strike and it was nice to be able to get down in a jiffy. That 25 feet stuff is for the birds (literally).
arrow32
Make sure to wear that harness. I got mine up pretty high this year due to it being the only spots I could get them that I liked them. Best of luck and be careful.
