I went out last night. Saw 2 big bodied deer, but with all the darn leaves, I couldn't tell what they were. They were a good bit away. You can read my blog for the full nights events.

Next planned night out is Sunday with one of the kids. It will be their first time out in a stand. I hope they can stay still for a couple of hours.

Last time I was out was last Friday. I took my youngest(4) out into the ladder stand. It was the perfect night. Quiet, calm, and cool, but not cold. We got to the stand around 5:15. Ella made it longer than I thought she would and she was quiet, until 6:30 or so. Then she was done, she wanted to go home. I figured if we hurried out of the stand we wouldn't spook to many deer. I was wrong. We spooked the 2 does that had snuck in behind us at 20 yards. Needless to say they blew and took off, then they stopped, blew some more and ran off for good. I was a little upset but didn't want her to see that. She said she had a good time and wants to go again. We will see.

saw five deer this mornin, most i have ever saw while i was in a tree stand, had a doe and two fawns come in at twenty yards, i drew, the doe looked up at me and had me pinned so i put the twenty yard pin a lil low and shot, she ducked and i pegged her.. i was shakin so bad, but a hour and a half later i trailed her and never did find her :( found awesome blood but no deer, did not find a spot where she bedded down or anything... oh well.better luck next time.
