Howdy all,

I sat yesterday for about 6 hours. I saw about 10 does and fawns. Nothing worth shooting yet. I really wanted to shoot a big tom turkey that came strutting through in the morning but it was peak deer activity time so I let him pass. I will be going back out Friday night and Saturday morning. I hope some bucks start coming around.

I'm leaving at noon today to make the trek out to West Texas. Weather will be a little cooler out there than around home, so I decided to make my opener out there. We've got 7000 acres to hunt and I'm going to have to share it with 3 other bow hunters. Don't know how we'll all fit in there, but I guess we can make it happen some way...[sarcasm]

I almost sealed the deal on Saturday morning. I had 6 doe walk in the food plot and stopped a 20 yards. I was waiting for the biggest one to turn for 10 minutes. When she finally turned I drew and one of the smaller does saw me and blew. Deer flew in every direction. I knew it was going to be tough with 6 sets of eyeballs but one of them managed to see my elbow. I'm going back out tonight with the kids. Maybe we will have better luck.

Yea. Congrats. I just had a wild hair and went out and bought a new muzzleloader this afternoon after work. The Mrs. finally consented. Got a CVA Optima Pro. Time to spend some time on the range the next few days and get it ready for Saturday's muzzleloading opener.
