I have been gun hunting for about four days since the 14th of this month,I missed a big eight point and passed two smaller eights,a three point and one I couldnt tell what it was. Some ones dogs have moved in on us the last couple of days and ran all the deer out,if the dogs stop long enoough I will take care of them.I have two more days to rifle hunt and then I will be back with the bow, hope my big bucks can make it two more days.

Whacked an 8 pointer right at the end of shooting hours on Saturday. Bad part is that only 5 of the points are scorable. Hes not a huge buck, but weighed 180 prior to field dressing. 2.5 yrs old, but here in our zone, they don't live real long...No rutting activity at all anymore, he came out to feed at 170 yards and went down at the shot. Farthest shot I've ever taken, and it was just as good as my 75 yard shots I had been used to. Still got some tags left, 7 more days of off time to rifle hunt, 10 days of muzzleloader and late archery season, freezer is gonna stay full this year!

Hey guys, my season is a bust! I hunted for five days hard last week. I was holding for a buck the first two days, on the third day anything goes. Naturally, a group of deer came down. The third deer was the eight pointer I seen during archery. Really nice buck too! But I only had him in my scope twice for a second each time, no shot. Never got a shot off at any of the remaining deer because I didn't want to ruin my chances at this buck. The rest of the week was poor at best, seen deer but only glances of them. Not sure if Ill be out during the second archery season due to other circumstances. But Ill try to see if I can get a day or two! I hope your seasons are going well, good luck to all yet!!! ;)

Well, regular season is over for me. Too many things against me this year. Rut was over two weeks before rifle season; outfitters had tons of out-of-staters in - none knowing what a fence means; and a new job that kept me out of the field until the last three days.

No one was seing many deer let alone bucks. Finally, last 3 minutes of regular season I shot a doe. Then to make it even worse I can't score it for the team because I forgot to take a picture of it, me and the tag.

But, all is not lost. We have a doe season in January and I'll get another one then and not forget to document it for the points.

Mery Christmas and Happy New Year. If I get the chance to head out with the bow, I will. Although I have been having fun getting skunked chasing ringnecks with my lab puppy. Besides, the deer herd in WI needs some chances before I go back at them next year if I am still in this state, if not, I will be chasing them no matter where Uncle Sam sends me...

Sorry guys. My hunting is over. Season ended last Sunday. As I said in a previous post, I shot a doe during regular rifle season but I forgot to take qualifying photos of her, me and the tag for the contest. But, I figured all was not lost - I could fill a doe tag during the antlerless season Jan 1-10.

Had to work the first weekend and should have been able to take one the last weekend - Jan 9 & 10. Things went south on the new house and had to take care of that and I didn't get out.

So, if we lose by a doe it's my fault. Good luck to the rest of you.
