Canuck2
Dan, too bad about your 8-point getting shot. At least you passed on him so he had at least a chance of getting older and bigger; just didn't work out for him. Anthony, it's good to hear you are healing well. It seems as though you are getting in some good outdoor adventures. As elsewhere, the rut is coming on stream here now. I'll be going to the coast for a few days to see if I can connect on a blacktail with the bow, then I can focus on the local whitetail does starting on the 25th. Straight Shooter
Well, I got back from Ohio yesterday and it totally sucked for the rut. it was over by the time we got there, there was a couple of bucks chasing on the day we hung stands. I did manage to shoot another Doe and passed a couple of small bucks. the big boys were pretty much nocturnal and not mocing much in the daylight hours. I had a good time but it sucks for our team and points to get. I've still got some time to hunt here in NC and maybe in VA. Good luck guys and be safe. Adjam5
Sorry to hear about your Ohio hunt Straight. Good luck on your home turf. Nothing to report for my hunts this weekend. A few non legal shooters and a fawn. I will be back up at camp Weds. Our bow season closes Friday and our rifle season goes for 3 weeks. The have been reports of a few Martens or Fishers being sighted in my area. I'd love to trap one of them. Good Luck everyone Hunt safe. layin on the smackdown
Well team. ive got some good news and some bad news. The good news is i dusted a 10 ptr last wednesday the 11th when i was down south...the bad news is, one of his points is iffy on his left side, so i think i can only enter him as a 9 ptr. The other bad news is that i thought this buck was a mature deer when he came in to the snort wheeze i blew at a different buck. I saw him come crashing in through thick brush and didn't have enough time to get a really good look at him...needless to say, i smoked him at 36 yds...i realized when i walked up on him that he was only a 3 1/2 year old, and would have been one giant in another year or two. Oh well, it happens to the best of us, and its not like i could have hauled him to a vet to fix his spine and put his lungs back together after the rage 2 blade destroyed him... I got home at about noon on sunday, took a shower, did a few things around the house, and was in the stand at 2:00...I drilled these two giant does in the matter of 2 hours...My season has finally started coming together. I will get him entered and posted when i am done with this...here are the pics.. The Carnage... Adjam5
Absolutely awesome Dan...Congrats! Way to Lay the smackdown on:D. That is a good buck. Love the bloody shafts in the quiver. "Where have we seen this before?" WTG Dan...Great job!
Canuck2
I returned from my blacktail hunt without any venison. The weather conditions were horrendous and really put a damper on hunting for the most part. Had a good time, nonetheless. My season has finally started coming together.Started?? Ya Dan, I'd say it has. In fact, that's almost a good entire career for many hunters. That's a darn nice buck in anyone's book, and it looks like that point may even be an inch or more, no? Well done. It appears that, after the most recent update, we are still in second place. That's a darn good position to be in at this point; keep them coming, team. Canuck2
Boy, am I asleep at the switch. Dan's buck had me so mesmerized, I forgot all about adding him to our 'team wall'. But he's on there now, and here's a link to our deer so far: www.angelfire.com/bc/canuck2/realtree.html Nice going, guys.

Canuck2
slaw, congratulations on that honker of a buck. Dandy brow tines on him. How many points in all - 9? Make sure you give that info in the entry thread. I've added your mug shot to our trophy wall. www.angelfire.com/bc/canuck2/realtree.html
slaw
yea, he had 9 scorable points. I might have to go to the taxidermist to get a better pic of the tag, it was out of focus and I didn't know it til after I was home and the deer has the tag on his antlers and the deer is at the taxidermist....we'll make it right if I have to drive 50 miles to do it. Adjam5
Woo Hoo! slaw...that is a dandy buck for sure . Congrats. Nothing to report on my end. Weather was VERY warm and there was a lot of hunting pressure in my area. Not good.

Adjam5
Well I stuck with it and finally the deer moved the way they were supposed to...past my stands. I connected with a doe last night, so another 5 pts for our team. I will post pics later. I was really wondering if all the deer left or were killed. I hadn't even seen one on stand until last night. I was alone and the drag was a doozy. But it was all worth it.

Canuck2
Anthony, way to go! You certainly were determined. I'll add your deer to the team trophy wall as soon as I see the picture posted.
Adjam5
Here is my doe. I need to do some photochop stuff to cover some info on the tag. I was alone so no pic of me with the deer. Deer Management permits(DMP's ) can be transferred in NYS. This one was transferred to me from a buddy who just got home from Iraq. The lucky tag! Adjam5
My pics are NG. I am not in them. I will be headed back up to camp this afternoon, to take a pic with the deer hanging in my shed. It might be a silly self taken cell phone pic. Like the kind you do with your girl in the car:clown:. I am going to give it a few more tries to get a buck. The weather has been VERY hot here. 55*! I had to make a call to a friend upstate and have him pack my does chest with ice so she don't spoil. I will be back on Tuesday. Good Luck team and hunt safe! Anthony BTW...I might be back to work right after Christmas! Knee is healing well .
layin on the smackdown
Good luck Anthony, and glad to hear you knee is healing fast!
Adjam5
OK back from camp. Got the pic of my doe and I for the contest . I missed a good buck on drive, as did 2 others...the same buck! I was shooting uphill about 100 yards and hit a tree . Eh...it happens. But that day produced 4 deer, one buck. Not bad. Most important...it was all done safely. The hunting pressure seems to have slowed by us. But the hard core are still at it. We have six more days of gun season left then one week of muzzleloading and thats it. I will be back up Thursday afternoon while I still am able to get up there. My Dr says I should be ready to go back to work in 3 weeks or so. That is GREAT news! Canuck2
Excellent, Anthony - things seem to be going good for you in various directions. That doe should count for us now and I see we are still in good shape overall. Anybody have any idea where Huntaholic1 and JimT are these days? I chickened out of this morning's planned hunt when I saw the temperature was 4 degrees below zero. Stayed in the nice warm bed.
Straight Shooter
Hey guys, just checking in and it looks like you all are doing a fantastic job for our team. Keep it up and I'm hoping to get int he woods this weekend and then take a trip to Va. after Christmas.
Canuck2
Well team, our season is done here as of yesterday - unless I travel big time miles, and I don't think that's in the cards. All I got this year was the one buck, so I've got most of the next year to sulk now.:bummed: I also heard from JimT and he was shut out this season. Dang. Best of luck to all who are still hunting; our team has made a very good showing.
Adjam5
Hey Team I am still swinging:yes:. We have about 9 days left in NY's muzzleloading season and it will be all out next weekend. I will be back up at camp Thursday eve and will hunt my stands Friday and most likely drive all weekend to fill our tags. I am looking for that upgrade to a buck. Our team is doing very good and we still have a bit to go. We can win this with a little bit of luck.
